Thanks, everyone!

I'll start with a skirt that works with my boots and go from there.

Tall boots are fashion classics, I think. I've had good luck with zipperless slip on boots. Nothing bugs me more than a wide saggy shaft. I wear frye campus & dorado styles. But my calves are just on the slim side of average, not super slim.

With your more rugged boots, a skirt in denim, black leather or a tweed could look great. I've been wondering the same thing about boot height this year. 12 inch calves are tough when it comes to fitting knee high boots and I finally have a NAS pair that almost fit that have yet to be worn when I'm wearing short boots all the time. It is hard to know, but the tall boots will be warm when it gets really cold.

Hmm...honest thought ahead. If you're thinking of buying a pair of boots only to wear with a skirt you haven't bought yet, and if you never wear skirts and have to find a way to change your activities in order to have occasions to wear them, and if you don't know if skirts are even going to be warm enough for you in winter, then I would say no, don't buy boots. I'd suggest buying a skirt you can wear with the boots you already own, and test out the look that way.

But...if you have other ways in mind of wearing the new pair of tall boots, then happy boot hunting!

I'm not sure what your climate is like but I am in a cold area and tall boots are a must. There is not much worse than getting snow in around your ankles at the beginning of the day.

I have narrow calves too and I read the reviews to find boots that others have complained are too narrow. LOL I have a number of pairs of booties and I love them but I also have a few pairs of knee high and even a pair of OTK and love them too. I am sure they will get a lot of wear as it gets cold out.

If you would them to do double duty with dresses/skirts and more casual, I would suggest a heavier heel. The narrow heel is a much dressier look in my opinion. I ordered the zinda last week and at least three others on YLF have them and they look fab.

I'm thinking about winter. I've tended towards jeans for a LONG time but want to try a skirt this winter. I run cold and was wondering about wearing tall boots. I've seen most outfits with booties though. I was wondering if it would be an unwise decision to purchase tall boots at this point. Thoughts?

Other factors:

I own one set of tall chocolate brown Aquatalia boots, purchased last year. They are definitely casual and go well with jeans. Maybe with the right skirt? IDK.

My calves are narrowish and it took a lot of time/effort to find boots that fit. I have a few more leads if I wanted black tall boots and maybe a bit dressier. OTOH, my lifestyle is pretty casual. OTOH, I'm hoping to create more situations where I could wear a skirt and nice boots. Since the holidays are coming, I could probably get more use if I jump now vs later.

Um, it sounds like I'm looking for enabling, but I am mostly looking for honest thoughts.
