Old threads can be ok as something new to add plus some good points on old threads.
Anita do some large band/smaller cups in there range like the 5527 and 5529 soft cup https://www.herroom.com/anita-.....-bra.shtml
Also glamorise have some.
They do the 1166 plus wired version now which are good esp for likes of me as more discrete than pushing them out there! https://www.herroom.com/glamor.....-bra.shtml
The Elomi EL8041 is great but does put you out there bit full beam on the headlights as brings you in from sides also to encapsulate them rather than compression styles https://www.herroom.com/elomi-.....hook.shtml

Ive all three brands all good for there uses and last well

I love the knockout sports bras by Victoria's Secret! I wish there was some that were just as good but cheaper. I can only find them online now instead of in their stores.

Angie's guide was over two years ago, so anyone interested in it might want to check through the archives.

I also find it annoying when bots dredge up old threads; I get a shock of pleasure seeing a post from a long-ago forum member--and then are so disappointed when I look at the date.

Haven't seen any recs for Nike...but I've found them very supportive and easy to get on, which is important for me...I've been in a panic trying to get some on and off when trying them on in the dressing room!

I've been having trouble finding the right sports bra for as long as I can remember, and can't wait for your buyer's guide, Angie.

My problem with sports bras is that their elastic band is usually too strong, or maybe too narrow for me. I'm small chested, so I don't need all that much support and have to buy small sizes, but I do have a wide rib cage (think ex-swimmer) and too tight bands impede deep breathing and therefore performance. Besides being uncomfortable and annoying, of course.

I sometimes use (athletic) swimwear tops instead of sports bras, because they keep everything in place and cover nipples, but are more comfortable than an average sports bra.

Hopefully your guide will help me find something more suitable .

SO annoying when a marketing bot revives a. 2-year old thread for the purpose of shiling for some random brand. I make a point of not rewarding the behavior by refusing to click on their link, and not patronizing brands that use these annoying marketing tactics.

This has been an interesting thread! I don't need to switch from my Anita Active, but if I did, you guys have some good ideas!

I own an Enell also. I wore it for at least one triathlon years ago. But for regular use, that amount of compression is suffocating to me--and I think it's ugly. It also has about 15 fasteners--doesn't exactly making getting ready to work out a joy! I didn't get rid of it, partially since it was so expensive. It has been hanging out in storage with a bunch of unused gear, but I feel no motivation to wear it.

I love: Panache 5021 Sport Bra UK/USA 30H or 30G

With my small band size and large cup size, I think fit is everything for a running sports bra. With a good fit, this allowed me to consider taking up runnning again. I sized down a band size because I really wanted no bounce. On web reviews, people who didn't buy a tight band fit, found this didn't perform for them.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/pa.....personaliz

Title 9 has an interesting way of rating sports bras by how much support you want/need and if you're using it for a high impact or low impact activity. Without classifying a bra in some way like this, I don't see how you can rate them. But Title 9 doesn't carry a full range of sizes, including mine, and this discourages manufacturer's from making the right fit ... and women from even knowing they're not getting the right fit ... so no good.

I love Nordstrom for their bra-fitting service and the fuller range of sizes and selection. Their sales associate helped me locate and fit the Panache 5021.

My general gripes about shopping for bras for my size:

Many manufacturers don't make either my band or cup size -

Stores doesn't carry the full range of sizes. (discouraging manufacturers ...)

Some store sales people try to fit you to their best fitting bra, when you really need to go elsewhere -

Online sites - One has to buy the bra to try it on -

Bras with not enough support - yes it fits, but then the straps or something is flimsy

One thing I'll add that I can't live with now is straps you can adjust from the front...and while wearing! Sometimes, you just need a tighten up and don't know it until you're out running or working out.

Have not used them enough, but for my 36DDD I need coverage and support without uniboob. I don't do a lot of high impact but do need more support than a normal bra. I prefer a more 'real bra' style and would love more choices in nude since I hate seeing my bra (even sports bra) through clothing. I currently have the Freya (in black) and the wacaol (in nude). They are good (albeit costly). My idea bra would be nude, have separate cups, underwire, not be racerback and not have enormous thick straps.

This one, have worn this style for years, comfortable, supports and give me a nice shape. I wish non-sports bras had this much coverage in the cup

Coming back to add:

these are not cheap but will last for a long time if you take care of them and have at least 2 in the rotation. You can find them on sale or eBay once you know the size and don't care about the color :-)

I'm very happy with my "Momentum" sports bra from German brand Anita:
http://www.anita.com/shop/en_g.....d3e90.html

It's machine washable, holds up very well, has padded straps, moisture-wicking and breathable fabric, is comfy to wear, and has a back closure (I find pull-on styles harder to put on).
I mainly wear it for walking for exercise, Pilates and yoga, but it's a very supportive bra which will also work, according to the website, for high-intensity sports.

There are several more options in their "Anita Active" line:
http://www.anita.com/shop/en_g.....8;limit=24

Perfect timing. I just started to look for a sports bra. Sorry no recommendation. Here is the criteria I'm looking for though:
- wicking material
- adjustable straps (short torso)
- not racer back. I want to be able to wear under regular clothes.
- prefer back closure. Or at least I won't hurt myself taking it in/off

alaskagirl - I just go with the monoboob look, at least I do get very awesome workout cleavage when I wear tank tops!

I tried adding the silicone nip shields from my daily bras inside the Fiona, but it's so tight, you see shield outlines...not a cute look! Looks like there's something fishy going on inside my bra, so I decided that the nips are gonna do what the nips are gonna do. My 2014 theory is if your looking at a woman's chest at the gym, don't expect it to be photoshop perfect! We have nipples, they do what they do. I don't even think I'm embarrassed about it anymore. I go for the workout and will gladly and not so politely tell folks where they can go if I'm apprehended about them LOL! But could you imagine?? "Hi lady...I was just doing my reps and noticed your nips are showing through your three layers of tank tops...might I offer you a handy pair of band aids?"

I just buy another wireless bra when I am buying underwear, and then designate it as workout wear. I don't run or need much support and it works great for Bar workouts.

The Shock Absorber looks great- would love to try it !!!!

For fairly low impact exercise and a 'just right for you' small bust, I would recommend Lorna Jane. (I'm a big fan of LJ right now!)

They come in a range suitable for low and high impact, have a little padding which gives a flattering shape, are soft so they don't 'dig' and come in a variety of colours which is great if you like your workout wardrobe to be a bit co-ordinated..... and you know I do!

Good luck!

Just read closer that you wanted links. This is similar to the Enell I had, also in white, to go under a white tennis top: http://www.herroom.com/enell-100-sports-bra.shtml

Yes, it snaps down the front, no other way to get it on. Yes, it is a bit like a straight jacket, but once you pass DD, and you want to play something like tennis, I needed it to keep the girls from hurting.

The moving comfort was okay, but not as good as Enell. Of the two, I would recommend Enell for high impact sports.

For regular workouts, I use Elomi's sport's bra in nude. No monoboob and comfortable, but it does have underwires.

A few years back, before children and when I had time to play tennis, I opted for either Enell or Moving Comfort. But these are geared towards high impact activities and are definitely "compressing" bras. But with the sprinting involved in tennis, it was what I needed.

Well, thanks to this thread, I did some googling and discovered that the Moving Comfort Fiona is sold at Mountain Equipment Co-op, which just happens to be a block from me, and some colours are on clearance for $35! So guess what's going home with me today :). Thanks all!

For those of you that love this... do you not find you get an issue with... ahem... the nips? I dislike having to deal with the (re)movable pad things that Lulu uses, but the fabric on these does seem a little thin in that area.

Is it bad that I read this as "Favorite Sports Bars"? :D

I have three, I think from Title 9. None are wearable without a top, sadly, even when I had a body that could be shown to the world. I think one is the Fiona but with my small frame I find it gives me monoboob. I will have to check the brand of my favorite one, which has truly separated cups and some kind of sling contraption within. I'm a busty runner/hiker and I need real support.

I've missed the main convo, but here to put in another vote for Moving Comfort Fiona bra. Hands down, best bra for me for running and other jiggle intensive sports. I'm ranging between a DDD, E, and F and I get the DD-DDD Fiona and it works surprisingly well. I've tried the Panache bra (the racerback) and for the price, Moving Comfort still wins, despite the fact Fiona doesn't come as a racerback. I have decided to not give a flip and let my bra straps show. It's what you do when your size limits your choices! :)

I won't link because mine are not available anymore but I have 2 different Lululemon ones I like. I think they have something for everyone with different levels of support & styles for different sports & bust sizes.

I take a regular racerback or convertible strap bra, one that is supportive. Then I take a tank top from Danskin Now and layer it over the bra. These tanks have a built-in shelf bra. The two layers of compression-type fabric hold everything in place when I'm doing something like a jazz dance class where there's jumping and leaping.

This is a very low cost way to go. It works for me since I only occasionally would have the need for high-impact support. The racerback style is important as you don't have strap slippage issues and also the bra fits nicely under the tank.

They sell this tank at Amazon as well as Wal*Mart, the latter version being cheaper (although probably lower quality).
