I love their Heat tec thermals & have some lovely cotton long-sleeve tops for my lounging capsule but other than that I find them a bit boxy. The fabrics are fantastic for the price but the cuts are (generally) ordinary imo. My husband is a very classic dresser & he loves their shorts & polos :)

I made an Eaton Centre trip just to check out this store! I bought a few heat tech shirts and love them. Some of the other basics seemed good as well, but, like you, it was a quick trip, so I didn't have time to *really* look. I wish they did online in Canada!

Love their merino wool sweaters. They wear better than the JCrew Tippis.

Boring and basic colors though.

We have one in our mall. I do shop there. Angie alerted me to Heattech. I have four of those layers. I have purchased washable merino wool sweaters there. Decent results. Also a down vest that I have probably worn 50 times. Angie is right. Their items are more casual.

I love their Heattech tops and socks and tights. Thermal under layers, like Angie. And although I've never bought anything else there, I do think my uncles and aunties look smart in their Uniqlo puffies. Maybe one day a Uniqlo Puffy for me... I see Uniqlo as the purveyor for preppies in the new millennium.

Casual, underlayers and gear -- yes! I've worn this fleecy coat to death since ordering it last year. It was something like $29. Long undies are warm, quality and about $8 per piece.

I could have written everything La Pedestrienne wrote. I wear something from Uniqlo most days, mostly Pima cotton tees. The Lemaire and related Uniqlo U collection gave me a bunch of my current staples. My silk shirts are all from the Ines de la Fressange collection.

That said, I have better luck with the collabs than the basics aside from my favorite tees and a few merino things, for fit reasons and because the basics can be a little too basic for me. I have a longer torso than the usual uniqlo shape. But I love that the sleeves are a good length for my shorter arms.

I really appreciate the quality and the pure cotton options. I wish they still made my favorite tees.

I too love Uniqlo! But I do use caution when ordering online. The fit in the same piece can vary dramatically from batch to batch. So even if I have tried something on in the store, it may not fit when I order it online. (When I spoke to customer service, they confirmed this.) Because of that, I'm going to try to stick to buying in person when I am down in Boston.

I think they are great for basic layering pieces. So far I have bought underlayers (Heattech tights, socks, long sleeved top, and fleece polo necks). I definitely plan to pick up those cotton shells that Brooklyn shows in her Finds because those would be warm weather staples for me -- super for layering and also nice on their own (for my body type).

I agree with LaPed that the quality is decent for the price. I'm a similar size to her so the fit model also tends to work for me (although unlike her, I do okay with J. Crew as well, so who knows?).

I had a couple of linen shirts from Uniglo shortly after I joined YLF. They were gorgeous colours -- just luscious!!! I loved them. But. They were (oddly) a little on the long-in-the-body side for me...and they were also a bit scratchy, and after three years of wear the scratchiness did not abate, so I finally let them go.

I love Uniqlo!! Anytime I am in a city with one I make sure to get there. They are perfect for basics. The quality is so much better than anything similar at places like Old Navy, Gap, LOFT, and even Everlane. I still have the Tees from my first visit over 3 years ago and they look great. The only tees that match them in longevity are my Eileen FIsher.
I read once where they are such a huge company they can negotiate deals on much nicer fabrics so that they can produce clothing of better quality.

I have a lot of Uniqlo. For me, they've become the place I look first for basics: synthetic baselayers, cotton tees and tanks, etc. I've bought items from the Lemaire and IDLF collabs and been happy with both. The quality is very good for the price. I've been wearing two of their $20 (on sale) merino sweaters since the fall, and they both look good, holding up well (I hand wash all wool, even the stuff labeled machine washable). I also like the fleece-lined "winter walker" pants for cold weather hiking when real snowpants would be overkill. I wore a pair of lightweight cotton-linen pants from them all last summer (and I think the summer before, too?). They're absolutely a workhorse for me and, again, cost all of $15 on sale, probably $30 msrp. I'm a sucker for their art tees. I have a lightweight down puffer that's a crazy workhorse and, again, I paid ~$30 for it.

I'm reaching a point where I'm wearing something from Uniqlo almost everyday -- especially in the winter, because HeatTech. I started shopping there about 4 years ago when I innocently wandered into one of their stores in LA. Never looked back. For me, it's basically replaced the brands I remember being "good" in the 90s/early 200s: Gap, J Crew, American Apparel, etc. Cotton basics, well designed. But remember, I'm 5'4" and 115# so that may be part of why I get along better with the Japanese fit models. I'm not tiny, but wow, are the J Crew and Gap fit models ever off for me. (Also, their price-quality ratio is very off much of the time IMO.)

Here's the thing: every time I order from Uniqlo (because I do mostly order online, though occasionally I'll shop in person when I'm down in Boston), I'm impressed with the way things look and feel. I very rarely have to return things (online garment measurements, yay!), and I can't say that about many other brands at this point. But I have a pretty strong dose of normcore in my style. I love how no-nonsense Uniqlo is. Not boring: it's more a matter of design vs over-design. I don't care about the bells and whistles on a garment if it doesn't fit or the seams won't hold.

Okay, long ode to Uniqlo over.

I went into a Uniqlo for the first time at the Boston meet-up in early January, after reading a lot of great reviews on YLF before that. Diana, Crazyone, and JamC all bought items there but I just browsed. A few weeks later I went into one close to me and bough the heatech fleece turtlenecks in two colors to wear as a bottom layer on my morning walks in winter. So far I LOVE them. I sized down a little for a snug fit (since I'm wearing other layers over them) and they are warm, soft and very comfy. The neck is just tight enough to work well, which is unusual as I have a thin neck and find many basic turtlenecks are too loose for my liking. I have washed them a few times and they are great, no twisting or pilling or any other issues. I don't put much of anything in the dryer.

I recently bought basic t-shirts for summer in white, black, and light blue. I was very impressed with the fit and the thickness of the fabric. I don't care for the tissue-thin t-shirt fabric that seems to be everywhere and these were much more substantial yet not heavy. Haven't worn them yet. The fit was surprisingly good, maybe a tiny bit long on me but that's nothing compared with what most regular sized tops are like on me. At the same time I got a cotton/cashmere vneck sweater that I'm going to return because I decided I don't want this fabrication for spring, but the quality is lovely.

Also the pricing seems very low for the quality, at least here in the US. The fleece tops were around $15 and the Ts around $10. LLBean carries similar fleece tops for around $35 that I have not tried..

I will definitely go back for more basics.

I am really happy with the quality of their Heattech items (camis, long-sleeved tops), and their cotton-rich layering tops (I have camis and long-sleeved versions of those too).
Very happy with their socks, puffer jackets and short puffer coats too: thin but warm, and they usually come in a fun assortment of colours.
I also have a merino jumper which is lovely as well, although I find it to be not as soft as other merino sweaters in my closet. (Finds below are Uniqlo items I own.)

I've been looking at the top Brooklyn mentions above too.

Like you, I like it that they offer many cotton and/or cotton-rich items for Summer. They also do quite a lot of linen in S/S.

A two story Uniqlo opened up in the Big Mall in Toronto fall 2016, but I didn't care for the look of things my first go 'round and hadn't been back. And, well, you have to cut through Nordstroms to get to it.... :-)

Anyway, the displays were so appealing I decided to check them out today. It was a whirl wind visit, but gosh, their S/S stuff looks nice. Flipping labels revealed lots of cotton rich garments as well. There seems to be some argument online about quality basics vs fast fashion, and I know folks here vouch for their under layers.

What has been your experience with Uniqlo?
