I have to be careful about necklaces during summer heat, because I break out in a heat rash from a lot of necklaces (I think it's the nickel filler that does it). I tend to do a lot of bracelets and rings. Like, Iris Apfel quantities of them because she's so fabulous.

I have a skull bead bracelet collection, and I'll wear them all at the same time; sometimes I'll switch it up and do the black ones with other black beaded bracelets for the same effect.

I also do cuff bracelets because I like the size and visual presence of a cuff.

And I'll pile on the rings whenever I don't have to worry about them getting snagged on stuff.

I love jewellery. I prefer pieces that are made by artisans and not mass produced. I don't buy much jewellery these days but when I do I buy pieces from craft shows or places that sell unique things.
I mix metals all the time. I never think about whether I am wearing gold or silver. I have a few mixed metal pieces which tie things together.
I rarely wear gemstones or pearls. Just not my style. Even though I love my engagement ring I have stopped wearing it because I find the ruby and diamonds don't work with the rest of my look. I still wear my yellow gold wedding band. I do like plain gold and silver jewellery pieces especially bracelets. Most bangles are too big for me but I have found a few that are small enough.
I like earthy natural looking things in general and this includes jewellery. My favourite stone is amber and I wear at least one amber piece daily.
I also love watches. I have a few different styles but usually, I wear a mixed metal (gold and stainless steel) one.

Ok I LOVE jewelry, but I think it's very personal.
I've rarely had someone gift me jewelry that I connected with even though I know they meant well. I do appreciate a sentimental item though - a vintage pin from my grandmother which has our shared birthstone is something I'll treasure forever. I made jewelry for years (beaded mostly) so I have an appreciation for things I can't make more than those I could make.
I feel naked without a watch, always wear my platinum wedding band and engagement ring and earrings. I collect vintage jewelry and love a unique piece, my favorites are vintage rhinestones (I am a magpie) and bakelite. I love bracelets, but hate wearing them. I love a statement necklace, but struggle sometimes to add an earring (I don't like sets so much) which I feel naked without as well. I am terrible at wearing scarves so I use statement necklaces instead. I adorned my denim vest with multiple vintage rhinestone brooches for fun. I even have a few vintage rhinestone shoe clips.
Find something that speaks to you or works with your style. Build on it as you go. I think jewelry should be curated over time and be part of your style and history. It can be a little good luck charm with you whenever you need it.

Love reading people's responses, we are all so different!
I prefer gold (from more a taupe to rose colour) and it can't be too shiney, brushed or florentine works best. I'm tall and fine-boned, so have to be careful that whatever jewellery I wear is not too heavy looking, or I look overwhelmed. But it needs to be large enough to be seen on me. It took me ages to work out that formula- long-but-lightweight- although in retrospect it seems perfectly obvious! I think working out the scale of jewellery that works is one of the biggest things- big enough to be visible at normal distances, but not so big it starts to look dominating on you (and what is 'too big' really varies so much). I also think people vary in how much movement they can handle- for some reason, I don't look great in shorter dangly earrings, they move too much. But I can wear very long dangles, because of having a long neck, and they don't move as much. I also don't look great in chain necklaces, but collar-styles, which don't move, work well.
So I wear my wedding ring (plain gold band) and a wide-but-thin brushed gold cuff bracelet pretty much every day. Then maybe a long earring in a sculptural shape. I also like pearls, but to work on me they can't be too classic. So I have a gorgeous pair of pearl studs with gold spikes on them. I wear them with my mum's pearl-on-a-wide-gold-band 1960s cocktail ring, and a yellow cashmere jumper- an outfit with a high happiness quotient! If I wear a necklace, then I wear stud earrings, long earrings and necklace is too much on me.

I used to wear jewelry more often in my youth than I do now. Now my staples are my diamond studs, my engagement ring and wedding band, plus a watch (I love watches). I only wear necklaces once in a while and they are mostly yellow gold, but I have one pendant that I wear often that gets many compliments, and I made it myself. I made it at The Corning Museum of Glass a few years back at a "Make Your Own Glass" class.

I usually wear my apple watch, stud silver earrings, and usually a silver chain with a charm, and my wedding rings. On occasion, I'll wear longer golden necklaces for work. That's it!

Okay, here we are in a typical getup for me... a tee shirt—just a tee!—since my only interaction with the public today is picking up and dropping off kids. But the necklace, earrings (studs that I know you can't see) bracelet, watch, and rings make me feel like I got dressed.

I have a fair collection of real jewelry and some costume jewelry that I have collected at various art fairs. I like to hunt for fun pieces. I wear my wedding band and engagement ring daily. I also have an anniversary ring which I wear. Sometimes I add a ruby and diamond ring which I purchased for myself when I paid off all my student loans. I also purchased matching necklace and earrings. I love them and wear the pieces separately or together depending on my mood. I have a collection of necklaces, earrings and bangles that were given to me by various family members and then some more recent pieces that I inherited. These are sentimental treasures for me and I wear one or two of them daily. I also have three thin band small face dainty watches to wear and I wear one of these as well. My requirements for a watch have always been that the face be small because my wrists are small and my features are small, but it still has to have a date and second hand. No digital watches, only analog. I have one that is mixed metal which allows me to mix my gold pieces with silver. I have been wearing that one frequently, but my best watch was a wedding gift from DH and is a high quality Raymond Weil. It’s sporty looking but still dainty, which fits my personality perfectly.
I always wear thin bangles. In fact, I am not one to wear chunky, heavy jewelry. I prefer layering thin dainty pieces.

Torontogirl I'm new to the forum and don't have any WIWs! It doesn't help that I am currently living abroad with an abridged wardrobe (the rest is waiting for me back home) and no full-length mirrors for outfit selfies! (Living with no full-length mirrors is no fun. I wouldn't recommend it.) Maybe later today I can stand on my toilet and get a photo of today's ensemble. Brass and enamel bangle on the hand with the gold, brass hexagon stud earrings, and a long and very colorful necklace from Lou & Gray. I did more collarbone-length and choker bauble-type necklaces in my 20s and 30s, but I have been liking longer and slightly less chunky necklaces lately as my style evolves in my 40s.... it's a little more relaxed which fits my everyday style, working from home in a very casual city.

I've recently started wearing more jewelry day to day again after a long period where it was only a pair of small stud diamond earrings and a watch. I've always loved artisan and Native American made semi-precious and silver stone jewelry (particularly earrings and necklaces, especially for casual special occasions). Now I've expanded and have started picking up a few of the minimal/dainty silver pieces that have gotten popular. I wear a silver St. Michael medal most days and have been pairing it with a silver ring with sunrays on it and saguaro cactus earrings for a fun change.

My jewelry has to work for me . . . most of the time I want to be able to sleep and shower in it and then I pull the more delicate or chunky stuff out just when I feel like it .

For those who have small wrists, Etsy is a great source for bracelets. Some vintage bracelets are small (less than 2.5”) and some of the jewelry makers there have small sizes. Etsy seller mongessy offers 2.25” gold bangles, I have a pair and really like them.

I'm not a big jewelry wearer, mainly because I'm very limited with regard to metals. For some reason, I get nasty headaches when I wear low-quality jewelry. Sterling silver and gold are OK, as is some brass (I think). So any jewelry I buy is going to be pricey, which means I limit myself generally to classic pieces.

I am also very hard to fit, which limits me further. My wrists are tiny, so bracelets just slip off. My fingers are extremely small also. Most department stores don't carry any rings that fit me. I have to go to a real jeweler.

I also do a lot of ballroom dancing, and jewelry can be a real annoyance when dancing, so that is another factor in my not wearing jewelry much.

I really like my jewelry to be high quality, because I feel like my jewelry says something about who I am as a person. I am not cheap, so I don't like wearing cheap jewelry. I also don't like gaudy jewelry, although I'm open to tasteful pieces that are large. It's more about the style than the size.

To be honest, if I didn't have issues with fit and issues with metals, I would probably have a lot more jewelry than I do now, in all shapes and sizes. I don't think I would have many colors, though--I feel like a lot of colored jewelry looks very cheap. I would love a pair of turquoise earrings, though!

I am not sure if my post will be a help or a hinderance. Every day I wear my engagement and wedding ringson one hand and a pinkie ring and one other on my right hand. I also wear my Fitbit watch and earrings. I often wear a necklace.
I love jewelry. Many of my pieces are happiness factors because they were gifts, or handed down from previous generations. My jewelry ranges from classic to trendy and from costume to fine. I appreciate each piece and try to wear most of it. I do have a couple of pieces that I rarely wear. I am setting a goal to try and wear them more.
I like maximal, so sometimes will wear multiple bangles, or combine 2-3 necklaces of different lengths. Some pieces are meant to be worn alone.
If my outfit is simple, I usually add more jewelry. If my outfit has lots of pattern, or detail, I wear simpler pieces of jewelry. I like to mix metals and wear interesting pieces. My jewelry is like a library. Each piece has a story and has some special meaning or connection.

I have collected a lot of jewelry through thrifting - mostly silver and costume, but don't wear much of it. I wear my hammered, yellow gold wedding band all the time, and most often hoop earrings either silver or colors, and I am looking for the right gold hoops. I frequently wear a big ring on my middle finger of my left hand (I wear my wedding ring on my right). I am slowly integrating more necklaces and will probably do more so as the summer progresses. Interesting topic!

Interesting to see what people like and wear.

I always wear my wedding and engagement ring. I swap out a ring on the other hand (from statement to other older rings). I sometimes wear a fine gold necklace with a small pendant and sometimes other ones. I have some cuffs and bracelets I like to wear and a few pairs of earrings. I should wear jewelry more - maybe a challenge is in order soon?

I am fine with costume or real jewelry - but struggle often with necklaces and earrings together (I don't like matching on me, but then struggle with getting the complement as well) I love earrings and a cuff though!!

My easiest pieces to wear are three pendants - one silver, two gold, that you will all have seen. One has a triangle, one a circle, and one a glass ball. They seem to work well with a multitude of looks from casual to dressy, are in scale to me, but not too dominating. I will add some pics to demonstrate.

Smittie, Barbara Bush was famous for wearing fake pearls. Kenneth Jay Lane designed some just for her. She said she wore fake because real ones of that size would be so valuable that people would try to kill her to get them. I doubt that, what with Secret Service protection. Here’s his BB collection. They’re still pretty pricey for costume jewelry:

I love (costume) jewelry but it doesn't love me back. I always wear my plain gold wedding band and one of four or five watches and earrings.

With busy salt'n'pepper hair, glasses, and a short but cold neck that prefers collars or scarves, much more than studs can be too much. But I wear really large studs to make up!

On the rare occasions when I am completely collarless and especially if I am not wearing a pattern, I will wear larger or dangly earrings or maybe studs and a necklace.

I like necklaces but I lack full functionality in my fingers so I should stop buying them because I get so frustrated trying to fasten and unfasten them which is a disincentive to wearing them.

I like bracelets but I have super tiny wrists so most don't fit. Cuffs need to be in scale since I have short arms. I have a silver stretch bracelet that I wear often, and I'm thinking it is because it is no fuss and doesn't get in the way. That being said, my long sleeves tend to cover bracelet and watch, so part of me asks what's the point.

I wear jewelry everyday always watch, earrings and my wedding and engagement rings. I wear a necklace too if the outfit warrants it. I am not really big on bracelets as they tend to annoy me especially if I am on the computer.
I have quite a few large statement necklaces but find myself not wearing them as much, are they still in style ? I have my long and also chunky pearls which I love and wore the chunky ones today in honor of Barbara Bush Also have many long necklaces with tassels on.
My watch is an old Movado that is 20 years old so would like to update. I have extremely skinny wrists so bracelet watches can be problem but that is exactly what I want of course !

I like jewellery but have struggled to find my ideal. I like something that can be worn with casual outfits and with jeans. My struggle is with size. I am drawn to big and bold, but am a petite person, so that is not working for me. I am not delicate either, so, at present, aim for the chunkiest I can get away with. I prefer bronze or gold but also wear silver. I like glass or pearls for earrings, something with a bit of dangle. I use necklaces and scarves to fill in wide necklines and create vertical lines. I am not sure what is the current trend in jewellery but like something that looks handmade and interesting. In summer I am most likely to wear bracelets, even an arm party for interest and color. In winter they are a nuisance with long sleeves. I think semi-precious stones are popular...jade, amber, turquoise, quartz, and the like. I have a pendant from Ireland made from peat. If it wear not endangered, I would like coral and ivory. Love pearls, especially fresh water ones in odd shapes.

Yup- this scarf lady does have jewelry. I don't have a bunch but I love my pieces.
I have quite a few brooches- most have either been purchased at garage sales, flea markets or consignment shops OR "inherited" from people who don't like them and give them to me because "they don't know what to do with them".
My other big jewelry collection- bracelets of mixed metals and qualify as costume jewelry except my old fashion charm bracelet that I have been adding to since my parents gave it to me at age 21.
For necklaces- I have my wedding pearls and 2 longer fake pearls in white and in black. I also have a jade in the shape of a heart with my birthstone in the anchor (the first gift from my hubby).
Earrings ( wear doubles)- small hoops in gold and silver OR pearl drops with wedding pearl studs. For fun - claddagh hoops with earrings of 3 mixed metal feathers.
And of course-always- my wedding ring, engagement ring, watch and emergency medical bracelet.
House robbers would be very disappointed.....LOL

You could try a necklace like @jussie’s beaded one, in the same colour as your top so that it blends in but is still bold and interesting.

I have been thinking a lot about a pearl necklace because pearls really seem to brighten things up around your face, but are still soft (so not like diamonds).

I don’t really have a clue of what to buy for pearls though but would likely buy something real, just because real things always feel more precious and closer to the heart.

I would love a solitaire emerald. Square cut.

I won’t buy any expensive rings or bracelets as I lose them.

I am a minimalist. Almost everything I wear is gifted or inherited, and my folks aren't big jewelry people so there's not much left to inherit, lol. I never pierced my ears so don't do earrings. Whenever I cut my hair into a super-short pixie, there are a couple weeks where I desperately want to pierce my ears, but once my hair gets a bit longer, that feeling goes away. ;)

I rotate between about four different pendant necklaces depending on neckline and whether I have a scarf on too. I wouldn't mind having a pearl necklace of some sort -- probably black rather than white, and probably multi-strand. A really chunky silver chain could be useful for me too.

I'd love to find a couple of bracelets -- a chunky silver cuff for dressier occasions and something lighter weight (maybe leather or textile) for everyday wear. I have rather small wrists and most of the cuffs and bangles I try are just too loose and floppy -- but I really only look at jewelry at thrift stores, not places that would have multiple sizing options available.

I gave up on rings a long time ago. They are a pain when you're baking, washing dishes, using tools, etc. In high school, I lost my favourite ring at a pool party. Not sure if I took it off to swim and someone swiped it, or if I forgot to take it off and lost it in the water. In either case, that turned me off rings. I've never found one that doesn't feel too tight or too loose. DH and I never bothered getting wedding rings -- felt weird, too evocative of ownership, and not the right kind of symbolism for us.

So I'm of no help when it comes to expanding one's jewelry repertoire, because I have trouble expanding mine.

I like wearing jewellery, I wear some kind of bold statement earring probably around twice a week, when the outfit calls for them. See pic below.
As for statement necklaces, I probably wear one or two per week. When done right they are awesome!
Bracelets and bangles less often but I do like them.
I am still on a learning curve about accessorising too, so I will be interested to read others responses.I usually stick to one large statement piece, plus my wedding/engagement rings.

There's kind of three main options that I tend to go with:

1) Wear earrings that picks up the colour of your top but not completely matchy/matchy.

2) Wear a necklace that is a very different colour to the colour of your top so it stands out.

3) OR wear jewellery that bookends with your shoes or pants to tie the outfit together.

I always wear my wedding and engagement rings, and my fitbit with a rose gold leather band.

Then I usually opt for one other piece. I'm kind of a minimalist in that I don't like to mix pieces, though I've experimented with wearing studs and necklaces at the same time. I don't mind if my piece (usually necklace) is a statement.

I get my best jewelry at craft shows and while traveling (one of he few types of souvenirs I can bring into my tiny apartment), but I also like Kendra Scott. I also pick up things at LOFT occasionally, and have a couple of Rebecca Minkoff pieces. My husband has also given me a few pieces he's picked up from local artisans (nothing fancy). I don't have a ton of Finds but here are some.

Lesley, I'll have to go through your WIWs to see your jewellery style! I bought a silver watch with gold accents specifically so I could mix metals without feeling mismatched lol

Oh, I forgot to mention (I told you I could talk all day) I use jewelry to wear colors I love that don't love me back (mostly light gray). A bright necklace or earrings and pow, suddenly my face wakes up.
