ah yes, it actually does make sense. It means I will need a photography assistant. I think I can round one up.

One of the best tips I know is to point the camera's focal spot at the mid dark point in the proposed photo and press the shutter release halfway down to get a "light meter reading" first, then take the shot. For most cameras the light meter will read wherever the focal spot indicator is sitting so if you happen to have it on a lighter area, the darks will be darker than preferred. Hope this makes sense.

I just did this, to photograph the ponte pants too actually. I would say take the photos in natural light, but not direct sunlight. (I find the light best in my apartment in the morning, but you might need to experiment with different spots), and do not be tempted to use the flash (I never use mine actually) - it does show more detail but makes things look oddly contrasty and shiny.

Another thing I often do is duplicate the photo and up the exposure and/or brightness/contrast A LOT (you basically want your face to be completely washed out to get decent lightness on the black). Most simple photo programs (I use iphoto for this) let you do this simple alteration. Obviously this makes the black appear grey but you can see details a lot better. I did it on photo #2 here:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....onte-pants

My black ponte jeans came in. I bought them in two sizes and want to photograph and get your opinions. It seems like black clothes are really hard to photograph. Does anyone have any hints for doing it so that you can actually see the details and the fit?
