The custom one was very narrow in comparison.</p> <p>The color is very similar to the overall effect of the old one. As that had a blue overlap/green lining it's a bit apples to crabapples. I'm so glad you ladies approved of this, because I was rather excited about it! The mesh fabric feels like more substantial/more interesting chiffon, which could lure me in right there, but the gorgeous coonstruction of the dress made me feel like it was doing good things for my naturally hourglassy shape. The only complexity was sorting out the bra situation, since the one shear shoulder could have looked tacky if handled wrong, but an hour at my favourite bra boutique saw me coming away with a normal, nude bra that works extremely well with this dress and will be versatile with many others. Good thing, too, at that price (I'm a stickler for bra quality and this one cost more than the dress and accessories combined, but it's worth it for superior shape and support)!<br />Do you guys think these accessories work with it or should I rethink that approach?</p> <p>Celia: That's very interesting re. the material. Certain types of mesh would probably make me feel like I'm off to the gym, but this one felt appropriately dressy to me. I'll have to show you the jersey wrap dress for contrast, though. Maybe I'm just overly particular about fabric. :)<br />Tina: Good question about the security of the neckline, but I'm pleased to say it doesn't move at all. The one shoulder piece doesn't shift an inch, and the fabric stays put wherever I adjust it. One of the things I like best about this dress, actually, is that the neckline is low without straying into clevage territory. Clearly you and I have shared experiences of such things, however. *shudder* :)<br />Jules: You're local? How did I not know this? *waves* Good observation on the fabric. It's completely wrinkle-proof, since it's mesh, so I know it will stand up to our horrible humidity better than I will! <br />Freeda: I can absolutely see why you'd think the sandals look uncomfortable, but they're surprisingly not. In fact I bought this gold pair after successfully dancing the night away in the silver equivalents. I definitely appreciate your concern for my podiatric welfare. :)<br />Traci/Marianna: holy crap, *that's* what was lurking at the back of my mind!!! I can see the similarities for sure, particularly in the sleeves. But now that you have me thinking about that original dress, the new frock is reinforcing why I ultimately abandoned it. The draped parts of this one feel more deliberate. The waist-sinching is more pronounced, at least from what I can recall, and the fabric/lining combo makes the whole thing feel more substantial and therefore capable of better drape. What similarities/differences jump out at you? Also, is this colour more green than turquoise or are they comparable too?<br />Cheryl: An adorable idea!
