( I know because I got it in the nutmeg color) the snaps seem good quality to me but if they don't line up exactly with your waistline at just the right width they pull a little creating a slightly awkward look. There was a whole lot of discussion about this some other postings on this coat by me and by others. I should let jaileen speak for herself but I'm guessing this is the issue she is seeing. Also the body of the coat is woven, not knit so the placement has to be just right. The larger size is much better. I see the smaller size pulling across your scapula. It's an absolute keeper. I kind of like the Kenneth Cole also. Can the fasteners be changed? It looks like they are snaps used in knits which are fairly common, and tend to hold well. If you think the quality is subpar, you can look online or in a knitting store for a good quality snap. It looks like a large one.
