Loft usually offers some good linen/cotton tanks that have good coverage but keep you cool. Jjill has linen tanks that also work but don't wash up as well.

BTW Have you tried Black Cohosh for the hot flashes? Helps mine - doesn't completely get rid of them, but in high enough doses it does help. I take other supplements as well. Also I use "mind over matter" techniques to stop them sometimes. Distraction can work surprisingly well.

Great that you got a bunch of things then, and I really hope the new thin Ts work out underneath for you to still look professional enough should a patient or family or co-worker come by! IKWYM about being a short, small person- in my case rather "dumpy" as well. That feels like an old-fashioned word, think Mum used to use that and she would be 96 y old if she were still alive! ( born 1920, died 1999). It feels like it is appropriate for me and I don't like to be too casual either as can be demoralising x

People in my department vary between wearing full scrubs, half scrubs, and super super casual business casual, Angie. Being a short, small person who feels shlubby enough in just scrub pants, I like something at least a touch fitted on top. Scrub top + scrub pants makes me feel like I'm in full pajamas and it's demoralizing. :(

Thanks, Kkards and Angie. Those tops are lovely but as I explained in my long update, I wear scrub pants on the bottom and sometimes do messy patient care. No jackets and pretty tops for me, unfortunately!

I'm with kkards on the sleeveless options. Go dressier, and layer a jacket over the top.

Thanks, guys!

I saw Greyscale/Janet's rec for the Uniqlo tees on my phone while I was out doing errands and getting a mani yesterday, and since I was 1/2 a mile from a Unqlo store that I always forget about, I decided to go by. The first Airism tees I saw were, apparently, some new seamless ones they have and I was like, "eh, these are too underwear-specific for me to get away with" but then I realized they had other ones with stitching around the neckline and sleeves that looked more like actual clothes. So I got a couple of those in a size up to try. They look very promising for my situation. (Thumbs up emoji.) Then I bought a bunch of other insanely cheap things that will serve my work wardrobe (where I destroy tops regularly). I have no idea why I forget about this store.

Janet, having seen your pictures many times, I have no idea why you think your thighs are *so* big, but mine are proportionately my biggest part too, so maybe that's why we love the Anthro pants? I'm about ready to be done with the skinny pants/jeans that aren't leggings. So sick of every pair of pants that fits my waist and hips squeezing the crap out of my thighs and calves. Anyway, glad you guys don't think the Athleta pants are visibly too tight on the calves, because I'm leaning towards keeping them. I'm perhaps overly sensitive to pants "catching" on my calves. But I like the color of these and I like that fabric as I mentioned.

Donna, if I dressed up for work that would be ideal, but I work overnights in a hospital and wear scrub pants/scrub-adjacent pants on the bottom with thin sweaters/thin hoodies/long sleeve tees on top.

Anyway, thanks again all. I will say the Anthro pants were super comfortable for wearing all day yesterday and I felt pretty fab in them with my engineer boots.

The Anthro pants are great. I tried them on in the store. They didn't fit me. :( The material is nice and thin for summer. The suggestions above would work as tops.
I don't have any other suggestions for a T shirt. When I was looking through the Anthro site they did have some T shirts. Did you look there?

What about a sleeveless shell? The one below is woven linen so it should be cool and it comes in a number of colors.

The Athleta pants would be cooler if they let air circulate around the calves -- writes one whose jeans she is wearing are snug in the calves. You just seem so much happier with the Anthro ones. Maybe the same cut will come along in another color that works for you?

I was going to suggest the same thing as Greyscale for the Uniqlo tee. You might also find an inexpensive option at H&M -- I've gotten good ones there in the past.

I got the Anthro pants too and think they're keepers for me as well. They must be magic pants because somehow they work for my ginormous thighs but seem to work on all of you lovely slimmer ladies too! They do look great on you.

IKWYM about snug calves on pants although it's not apparent in your photos -- I have a pair from Lululemon that are definitely snug on the calves but I wear them anyway.

Would a Uniqlo Airism layering tee be too form-fitting? They are said to keep you cool and dry, and the cap sleeve would work well for layering.

I thought your story about you and your coworker was pretty funny. It's nice that you were able to come to a compromise. You must save on heating bills!

I think cap sleeves are a great idea but I have no suggestions.

I like the athletas. They're a nice colour. More green than the other ones. They seem to fit well too. I don't think the calves are too tight. Are they supposed to be loose?

The Anthro ones are great.

Pics! 1 and 2 are the Anthro pants that I love. 3 and 4 are the Athleta pants I am on the fence about. I feel like they are slightly tight on the calves. I dunno if that's enough to bother me. They fit well otherwise and the super thin material makes them good summer pants. 5 is the Anthro pants styled b/c I cut the tags and decided to wear them today. Club Monaco sweater (last winter), Frye engineer boots (several years old), ancient wool socks of unknown origin.

1.) I'll give y'all some long, boring backstory to explain why I'm looking for what I'm looking for. I share my workspace 3 out of 4 nights with a co-worker who, while absolutely delightful in every other way, runs extremely cold. I meanwhile am menopausal. We compromise and keep the office temperature warmer than I would like and cooler than she would really prefer. Sometimes when I am flashing, however, I would really like the option of removing a layer for 5 or 10 minutes. The problem is, my under layer is generally a tank top/cami, and I cannot sit in work, even for 5 minutes, in a tank top. OTOH, my layering options are limited because I hate the feeling of sleeves under sleeves. So having pondered this for 2 years (ha!), I've decided that maybe a very thin cap-sleeved t-shirt for layering might serve me. I could sit in work in a cap -sleeved shirt for a bit without feeling inappropriate. But the tee would have to be a.) thin enough and close fitting enough to layer without my feeling homicidal but b.) not so thin as to be see through. Not picky on neckline but a very high crew neck is not my best look and obviously I don't want any v or u necks that are low enough to show cleavage. Basic neutrals like black, white, gray, and oatmeal would be great. Has anyone seen this unicorn???

2.) Both my Anthro and Athleta cargos have come in the mail. The Anthro ones might just be the best pants in the history of pants and I am definitely keeping them. The Athleta ones I'm on the fence about. I'll try to take pics tomorrow in daylight and post them for opinons.
