Astrid. Danke! I will look more into that site. I am becoming a real fan of this style. I love to integrate this look with small fine feminine touches. Perhaps floral scarves, jewelry etc.
Another brand I have been eyeing is Frank and Eileen. I spent time in Berlin some years ago and remember a nice boutique called Fil a Fil.

Thanks Laura. I love the look of Tradlands, I've come across the website before via Tomboy Style. Nice to look at... I'm in Germany though, so I'm not shopping US retailers.

I have been looking for new tops. I'll never pass up a nice tee but I love to wear classic long sleeve button downs the most. I like them as they are more formal and versatile. I pasted below a few brands I am looking carefully at to soon buy from. There are many tee shirt opinions within.
Let me know your thoughts on these collections.

Thanks Gaylene and Harmonica! Keeping my fingers crossed...

Thanks Eva, that's what I thought. I already had my eye one the Boden blouse last summer, but I thought it was overpriced. The price was great now so hopefully it works. I can see the linen tee especially with a patterned skirt... maybe I will finally get around to sewing that floral skirt.

Texstyle, that's a great idea! I love a good graphic tee, if the design is right. I've never shopped clothes on Etsy, maybe I should have a look.

Thanks Kiki. I didn't order them because after checking the measurements I thought they would have been an awkward length on me. But I'll be looking for something similar. I need at least one pair of well fitting shorts.

Thanks Daria!

Astrid - those look like great potentials! I don't know if you go for graphic tees or not, but I've found a few that I do like over the past year or so and it's nice to have something that's more fun than a plain tee once in a while. You might find some organic cotton tees made in europe that have a design you like. I know there are some on Etsy.

What with Angie mentioning boho I took the plunge when I saw this Boden cotton blouse marked down significantly with free shipping. I think I got one of the last ones that were left in a small size. Hopefully it works out and I have my first t-shirt alternative for this year...

I also have a linen cotton mix tee on the way, also significantly marked down. Plus a button down, but that's less for summer and more for spring (I couldn't resist trying it, with the price). I'll keep you posted if they work out or not.

Annabelle, that sounds good! I still like cotton tees, I guess I just want to change it up a bit.

Thanks Eva. I think woven blouses sound nice. It's not that I'm totally averse to button downs, but I don't think I want them to be the main part of my spring/summer wardrobe. I'm often wearing casual shorts too, so that sounds like it could be a good solution to dress those bottoms up a bit.

I love little woven blouses (not button downs) as my tee alternative.

I have a weird thing: I love wearing long sleeve tees tucked into skirts when the weather's cool enough but I almost never wear short sleeve tees/tank tops. Or even ls tees with trousers or shorts. So I guess in my mind ls tees are more like sweaters!

Of course, I was also in a very hot climate, and woven tops don't cling, allowing a bra-free experience that's much more comfortable for me. And I liked that the blouses added a touch of dressiness to the casual shorts I often wore. I'm not sure what my spring/summer dressing will be like now that I'm in a more temperate area.

Thanks Texstyle! I don't have a dryer, but I might try the waterbottle. Good tip about the patterns.

Thanks Minnie - I don't think I'm going to be in Bremen anytime soon, but I saw that there's an online shop.

Thanks Kiwigal! I have never ordered from People Tree before, but it's actually a good option and shipping from the UK isn't a big problem.

Thanks Inge! Thanks for looking up some tops for me. I don't shop at Zara, but these are great examples. Massimo Dutti is a bit too expensive for me. I shopped a lot at Esprit a few years ago, but I actually feel like they have gotten rather overpriced, especially looking at the fabrics. Still lovely styles of course, but the only way I've been shopping Esprit lately is on sale.

Thanks Laura. I'll keep that in mind. I agree that knits might be too warm, depending on weather.

Thanks Torontogirl! That's definitely a good idea. I don't mind the look of T-Shirts depending on outfits and the right fabric or detail might make all the difference. For example I found this basic tee below in an online shop. It's a hemp and cotton mixture and if you look at the close up it has a rather nice texture going on. Something like that (available in different colors) might be a nice replacement of my simple solid cotton tees.

Thanks Gaylene! I agree, I don't like a lot of the styles made out of natural fabrics either. It's just not my look. But I think I should be able to find some styles I like, with a bit of patience.

Linen T-shirts and open weave knits are my favorite summer tops, along with the occasional fine cotton woven top. My only cotton T's are a silky cotton that is substantial enough to drape well so the tops look more like a light sweater than a T-shirt.

I'm not usually a fan of rayon--often feels too flimsy to me-- or silk (unless it is a fine silk knit that is easy to wash). Bamboo and hemp are interesting, but the designs often aren't to my liking.

ETA: here are some examples. The Zara ones are on sale right now.
It's still a little early for short sleeves and sleeveless styles, but I'm sure they'll be popping up on the websites soon enough.

Astrid, I'm from the other side; I love my tees but am learning to be more particular about fit and fabrication ... that might be another way to upgrade your t-shirt look.

I think looking for lightweight woven tops, of all kinds of silhouettes, is a good option. They tend to look a bit sharper than tees and are usually cooler than knits.
