Thank you both. I do regret not getting as much wear out of my leather and suede in the winter as I would like, so extending the period during which I can wear my leather footwear would be great.

I also worry about the salt in the winter. I do have a pair each of Blondo, Aquatalia, and La Canadienne. Do either of you have problems with salt stains?

I spray mine with protectant and wear them all winter. If I didn't I wouldn't get much wear out of them as it can be very snowy where I live. They always seem to hold up just fine. If I'm going to work, I will wear snow boots and change when I get to work.

Gigi, try to adjust your thinking about this. I live in a very wet part of the county and wear WHITE leather footwear all the time. No problem what so ever. And I'm walking on the city streets probably more than you are. (Granted, I do not stomp around in puddles, or go for a woodsy walk in my city footwear).

Wear leather and suede shoes in the wet. Spray them with a protectant. Get Blondo, Aquatalia and La Canadienne footwear that's 100% weather proof for EXTRA dry feet.

Fall is now here, and it's going to be rainy soon. And then snow...ugh, I must not think about it! I always struggle with what footwear to wear when it's rainy and wet. I am afraid to wear real leather or suede, even with protectant, lest I ruin it. I found a pair of synthetic suede booties at Nordstrom and am wondering if anyone can advise on how well faux suede holds up in the rain and snow. Does it discolor or otherwise suffer? If anyone has experience, let me know.
