Mo, if you still have a yen for that jacket by the time July rolls around, it's probably worth a little splurge... only you can say how *much* of a splurge, lol.

BM, I thought along those lines as well. Only instead of setting fire to the closet (making SYC impossible, of course!), I purged a LOT of stuff in order to build some 1-in-1-out "credit." Where did all these loopholes come from? Should have gone into law...

Ah, I see many of us still have our eye on a particular thing that is still 'off limits'! Mine is the ruffled white linen jacket. I'm just going to watch it online until I hope the price drops under $100 and then I'll have to debate whether it's worth breaking the rules for. Or I might luck out and it will be July by then ha ha.

Rae, $4 boots can always be squeezed in!

BM, why do you want to set you closet on fire? Is it that bad? Or are you just frustrated?

Modgirl, I feel about where you do. I have a working wardrobe and I am at the point where I know I don't need any more summer wear and yet here I just grabbed a dress and breezy top. Guess the difference is that they are wovens, and most of what I have already is knit. At least that's what I'm telling myself

Depends on how you look at it for me... I've broken my rules here and there ($10 bag and $4) shoes, and also added a couple of exceptions along the way (replacing shoes that hurt), but I've also been very good about my 1-in-1-out policy, and I only bought online when replacing (not just "cuz I want it!"). Overall, I think I've achieved my goal of reigning in the spending. However, I am very much on the fence about possibly breaking the rules entirely for a very good deal on a cognac messenger bag (on my list for Fall). I intended to use Macy's gift card money once my CC rewards are enough, but I'd get a much better deal online...

I am doing very bad on SYC... I had a long period of storm and stress shopping over the winter when I was trying to redo my entire wardrobe. After that I was pretty well set for winter and spring clothes and decided it was time to slow down and SYC. Now that I had my basics in place, I was going to focus on more quality vs. quantity purchases. But with summer heat on the horizon, I am craving cute summer dresses and breezy tops.

I do feel like I am getting closer to a working wardrobe now. My closet is no longer a source of angst and I feel like I can be appropriately dressed for just about any occasion or situation that comes my way. So maybe SYC for the season will begin in earnest once a few more cute summer pieces come my way.

Great haul! So nice when you can get something you love with your Bday $....I think you are doing fabulous I really cant get anything else (besides those 2 pair of shoes that I honestly needed) till at least the end of June and there are a few dresses at Macys that keep calling to me Im *thisss* close to setting my closet on fire! That is becoming less and less a random thought....

I have had the bounty of birthday money and so I've been a little bad, but within my imposed limits. The white Kenneth Cole watch is going to stay after test driving it a few days. That is compliments of my BF's mom. My mom sent me a little cash and I picked up the blue polka dotted sundress I posted yesterday along with a leopard print chiffon ruffled top I love!! I found the top in a size larger last week and resisted. The thought that I had a knit black and white leopard print top also came to mind. But once I found my size I realized it wasn't a duplicate of the other top at all and it really should come home with me. :)
I also grabbed a light dusty pink cascade cardi I'm on the fence about. Oh, and a black and white striped light weight rayon scarf - I'm really trying to break into the scarf thing but few and far between really catch my eye or feel wearable to me. I was thinking of pairing it with a striped crop hoodie for a fun casual look that isn't unbearably hot. (too much stripe??) Otherwise it could go over many solid color knit tops I have.
Anyway, this puts me at $43 left in June's budget so I almost feel for once I'm not hopelessly ahead of my spending budget lol. Judging by what I picked up, I was feeling the need for less basic pieces and a little more flair. :)
Anyone else struggling with your own SYC or SYB? How about the success stories who haven't wavered??
