For someone who hated shopping ( me ), I have found a vigor and deep-seeded passion for it that I had no idea I had.</p> <p>Black Fridays have never tempted me. I HATE crowds and I normally hate shopping. But yesterday I went out a 4:00 pm to take my sister out and she changed her mind, so I went to Marshall's for an hour. It was pretty dead. The kid who worked there told me it hadn't been a good day and another shopper told me that Wal-Mart, next door wasn't doing so hot either. Although I was at the stores, for most stores, I did not think the deals were worth the wait. The Vera Bradley store by me, was 30min before you even got INTO the store! Other stores such as Macy's or Lord and Taylor, I'm sorry but I did not see any great deals. Only a few stores caught my eye and took my time: Banana Republic, Eddie Bauer and Yankee Candle (deals were 40% off til noon on the first two and Yankee Candle was buy one get one free ANY candle). In general, 25% off or less isn't going to grab my eye which a lot of stores had as their "deals." I also find unless you are making a large purchase (for me that was a $200 puffer coat at Eddie Bauer) or a high volume purchase (I went overboard in BR) the savings are not worth the 30min or longer lines. My plan is to stay away from the mall unless it's shopping for gifts. The internet sales will be more of a temptation but will be gift shopping and try to stay away from anything for my own closet, unless it's a gift from DH.<br /> I've been working on finding myself some boots and maybe a new bag but hope to still be within SYC in that DH really wants me to get something from him for myself to put under the tree. He wants gifts there for opening instead of waiting until January, and plans to get techie stuff for himself from me. Finding flat riding boots to fit small calves isn't easy and I 'd rather not wait until they are gone.
