No purchases of any kind for the month of Jan. I really want to extend to 3 months but I need to chop that up to smaller time frames for myself. I may end up letting myself purchase one or two items over a longer time frame (say 3 or 4 months) but for now I am starting small. Most people do their own length of time for SYC, anywhere from 1 month to 1 year! And sometimes purchases exceptions are made for wardrobe workhorses or essentials that wear out unexpectedly. Each individual person decides on their rules (using a strict budget instead of only shopping the closet, for example, while someone else might want to buy nothing at all) and time frame (I'm just on SYC until I have my work clothes sorted, but others are aiming for an end date in Spring).
