As for my surgery, it’s pretty straightforward, but I will need to recover for about 6-8 weeks. It should be totally fixed though; I sliced the extensor tendon. The doc says she fixes that problem a lot. (Wear shoes or slippers when you cook!) I’m not in any pain now, that one pair of boots notwithstanding. My toe kind of droops, though, and I can’t let it stay like that or I’ll have problems down the road. It should be totally fixed once I recover!&nbsp;</p> <p>Kellygirl, you’re very sweet! I have spent many hours with many expert downhill ski boot fitters over the years. Several times, I have had what they call a "tongue pad" put into my medieval torture contraptions aka alpine ski boots. They hold my narrowish heel to the back of the boot. They are like a firm but squishy neoprene pad that forces your foot back and keeps it from sliding forward.</p> <p>OK, I just googled it, and saw some white felt ones, which I now remember having added to a pair of hiking boots once. The neoprene ones are more effective because they go farther down onto the top of the foot. I love it with the frame I chose.<br /> </div><div><br /> </div><div>* I am having foot surgery soon, and wearing these was a mistake because of one of my toes has extensor lag (kind of droops). However, they haven't been comfortable even before my injury--no matter what I do, the foot slides forward so that the pointed toe pinches my toes, due to the height of the boot. I have tried stuffing the point with wool, and using something on the sole to stop the sliding. Is there anything else I can try to stop this slide forward, once I am recovered? Or do I either suck it up when I wear these, or call them a lost cause?</div></p>
