I do a small switch out for shoulder seasons, which are about 2 months long here, and then a big one for full-on winter or summer. It gets tiring. I do have a small capsule of items that can work all year - jeans, sneakers, sleeveless blouses or tee shirts that can be layered, and cardigans that I need for the office air conditioning as well as winter. The process is tiring.</div><div><br /></div><div>Due to climate change, you may want to keep a few items you didn't use. You just never know when you'll get a randomly hot summer. I use the two black ones and that's it. I have stopped buying sheer tops so rarely need them. Maybe those should go on the next edit.&nbsp;</p> <p>Our summer was "grotty" as Angie puts it, but because it felt like it rained 90% of the time. The best summer we had was the last two weeks in South Africa! Highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s, lots of sunshine and a little rain, a little wind. How can you fit one entire season’s worth of clothing in a closet? </p> <p>When our stuff got here a couple weeks ago, I packed our summer clothes away, except there are still bits showing up in, for example, the hand laundry. We’re close to having people divided up into mixers, sheeter operators, oven operators, etc., but not quite. It was warm and rainy right through most of October, then we went to a place where we had summer for a month (including temps of 107 at the bush camp, with no AC!), and got home to freezing temps. I feel like a good portion of my wardrobe is going unworn this fall, but I’m not getting rid of things that go unworn for that reason. Took all the maxi dresses and linen pants and such off their hangers and neatly Konmari-folded them into the drawer. Then a few weeks ago I moved the sleeveless dressy blouses and spring-weight/color blazers to back of closet, and moved heavier fall/winter/long sleeve stuff to front. I've got my formal stuff in the guest closet. Should probably move that back in since the season is upon us......</p> <p>I also love playing in my closet!
