I was thinking that I missed to suggest trying them with the bottoms you going to wear them with as that would be the deal breaker for me. Better to return them instead of buying a whole bunch you not sure of. That first example from ANGIE looks very you

It's always a wise move to go with your gut. If an item has any doubts, you won't end up wearing it. Sometimes it takes work to find the right style or pieces, but I've always found the extra work was worth it for happiness with my wardrobe. Good luck!

I think assymetrical feels better. And I love these suggestions you sent me! Thank you for doing that. Most lovely of you <3 Will report back when I can try an asymmetrical tee :D

The fact I'm not feeling any clear direction in my gut--except not feeling good about them--makes me think these aren't for me. They're not bad but they're not IT. I'm still feeling into it, but thinking I'm going to return them and find something else.

Well, I still like size 12 better so I am with hubs. However, what do I know? If you follow your own feelings you’re more likely to want to wear them surely?
I do like the leopard print and all the colours you suggest.

Carol, yes to slim jeans! I don't have wide leg jeans and I just couldn't get into that trend. I tried on two pairs of barrel leg jeans and they either didn't fit right (way too small in the waist but coudn't size up unfortunately), or they just didn't flatter me. I finally gave up and realized I prefer a more narrow leg shape unless it's the right bootcut.

Lise, that's a good point re: losing. I didn't consider that. I had a rayon spandex jersey dress a few years ago and it didn't shrink. Good idea though to test wash one item and see! Thanks for all the good ideas!

Lisa, yes!!! Good call on looser being more heat friendly. I wore a more loose top last summer (olive in finds below). Angie suggested I keep it and she was right! I loved it! Very breezy and cool. Wore it all summer long. And this summer could definitely be a hot one.

It seems like Fabbers are evenly split between ordering size 12 and size 14. haha! I think I will try on once for Hubs and see what his opinion is. Maybe he'll be the tie breaker ;)

I adore the idea of a swing tank. Who wants to wear clinging items when it's hot outside? Not me. I have a few Life is Good tanks that are the slub style, they are like a swing style and were superb in our hot weather last year.

Out of the two you have here I prefer the larger size, in case of shrinkage and because I enjoy a looser fit for tanks in the summer.

Nice find!

I too love cool tanks in the height of summer. This looks like a good one. I think 14 could be a bit too big. You are are also in a losing phase... I would take the 12 if it is comfortable in the arm holes. If it rayon and spandex I don't think it will shrink. Maybe wash the one you decide to keep before committing to the rest to guide you about shrinkage and sizing. Looking forward to your new style ideas.

And thank you for your eagle eye I haven't tried on swing tanks before, so wasn't sure what to look for. I do prefer how the size 14 hangs and drapes the more I sit with it.

And yes! It is a a change! Glad you approve I am trying out what I call "Architect's Wife on Mediterranean Holiday".

All good questions!

Indigoprint, there isn’t any realy difference in length that I can tell when I tried them on. I do think there is more vertical drape from the vertical folds in size 14.

LJP, thank you this is my first time trying a swing tanks love how soft, breezy, and easy these are.

Irina, these are rayon spandex 95/5%. I haven’t yet had rayon spandex jersey items shrink on me. That said, I always air dry rayon of any kind. I won’t really know until I wash them. I like the less volume in the width of 12. There’s a quite a bit of ease under the arms of size 14, not enough to be bulky but it was surprising. Though the weight of the fabric hanging takes care of some that.

I will try to try on with jeans again and post photos here— for a better idea of fit.

I like size 12 more but… might it shrink in a wash? What is a fabric composition? I sometimes buy t-shirts one size up if I know I will dry it in a drier and they are 100% cotton, so they will shrink at least half a size.

They both look good on you.
I often size up based on the length of a garment. Do you see much difference between the 2 in length? I like the drape of the 14, especially in such a yummy fabric/ color.

Update time!

After trying them on for Hubs and styling them (see photos)... I'm just not happy with either size. The fact I'm not feeling any clear direction in my gut--except not feeling a "heck yes"--makes me think these aren't for me. They're not bad but they're not IT. Can't put my finger on why, either!! These swing tanks tick all the boxes for comfort and breezy, but I just don't feel great wearing them. Maybe they need to be shorter or longer in length. Maybe they're too far outside my usual boho comfort zone. Maybe they're really not good on me. LOL! I'm just going to go with my gut and feels in them.

I think a shark-bite style tee in a very drapey knit might be better...something with long folds? See photo 13. This photo was my original inspiration but the swing tanks aren't quite it.

Original Post:

I’m moving in a new direction for summer. One thing I’m considering wearing is swing tanks in jersey fabric with slim leg jeans.

I’m just not sure which size to choose… feeling a bit torn.

Photo 1: size 12. Less volume but a little less vertical drape and swing

Photo 2: size 14. More volume but more vertical drape and swing.

My jeans are all in the wash :} So hopefully these photos do the tank justice.

I’ve ordered the swing tank in 5 colors so I can a bit of a summer uniform. More on my summer plans soon in another post. xo
