Suz did you have a look at Simon's website - you can search swimwear/onepc and tankinis. They have some options that look quite promising.
http://www.simons.ca/simons/ca.....piece?/en/

I am not sure if your water fitness plans include actual swimming, but I find the wider straps often have a seam at the top shoulder that rubs my neck raw when I swim freestyle. The lingerie width straps (the smaller the better!) work for me. Perhaps do a arm circle test fit and see if those wider straps rub on your neck as part of your try on. I have had mixed results with TYR, but the last suit I had that faded badly (and quickly!) was probably over 10 years ago so surely their fabric has changed since then. I cant imagine you are a 34 though as I am a 36 myself... although perhaps I subscribe to Runcarla's fit school... you can stand up straight? You suit must be too big! LOL

Sue, that is exactly it. It was one of the thin cross back styles, and I really didn't like the way it fit on me. Okay...now I am armed better. The one in the Zappos cart has the diamond back.

THANK YOU!!!

The 'diamondback' style shoulder straps works like a charm for me. The cross fit/thin cross fit doesn't work. I'm a bit of a fanatic about swimsuits, but I'll stop now. Just don't get me started on goggles and caps

Thanks, Sue and Glory -- Sue, I did have a TYR suit (one my daughter stole) and I actually got it at Sportcheck. So I sort of know the size -- although I wasn't crazy about the fit on me. I'll have to put it on again to know why. Maybe it was the style I didn't like. They didn't have much available at the time so I went with the least objectionable option, if you know what I mean.

Glory -- good point. Sears is worth checking, too.

Thank you all! I'm on it! I have two in my cart at Zappos now....

Suz I agree with the others that this type of suit must be snug - not so snug you feel ill though. Have you considered trying some from juniors to get the smaller size? It might be worth a trip. Also, Sears has quite a good selection.

hada thought while driving in to work - Sportchek often has TYR - maybe the lycra ones that don't stand up in chlorine - but you can figure out your size. I think you will be a 34. Then you can order from swim2000 and send to your drop box.
Final thought - I can bring one of my suits to our meet up for you to try -let me know!

OMG -- gryffin, you are cracking me up. And it also sparked a memory involving another Land's End suit, as it happens....I had one...I had lost some weight. I didn't realize the suit no longer fit....until I was in the water!! I had a malfunction like the one you describe, and then was terrified to get out lest the suit drag itself right off of me....which it almost did.

Suz - agree no baggy suits. You will have a rip roaring case of droopy suit. It's like elephant skin. I borrowed a suit once and spent an afternoon mortified as it billowed out in the water. I looked like a puffer fish in need of deflating. Love TYR. I got mine from zappos. Go snug and swim sleek and happy!!

Agree with the snug vote. If it bags in the middle it might just decide to bag somewhere else when it gets wet and you start to move. Love tyr suits for fitness as well.

I swear by TYR - I wear a size 36 to fit my long body. The suit is form fitting, not baggy in any way, but not skin tight. I find TYR the best design for my body type. My suits are polyester or durafast to withstand the chlorine. They last about 2 years -(elastic starts to give) but I generally have 4 in rotation.

I used to order from the site below, but got hit a few times with import taxes - so I try to buy local. Good luck with the search Suz!

Okay - thank you. It is going back and I am starting from scratch. It's the smallest size, so I am sized out, which often happens at LE for me. I just had a bit of hope, because swimsuit sizing is so different, that I might be in luck. Alas.

Thanks, Carla. I have tried the Speedos on and they did not seem to fit right. Too short in the torso. But I'll have to try again.

Adding if you like the cut of the land ends suit but arent satisifed with the size down, you may try a water polo suit. They are cut similarly.

ETA: Polyester spendex blend suits or 100% polyester (versus nylon spandex) seem to have some nice chlorine resistance. I am new to buying them and got 2 for this purpose in Dec. So far very pleased and no fading. I am in the pool at least 3-4 days week.

LOL! I'm anxious to see what merwoman, and other swimmers have to say! The saying amongst the swim team (youngsters as well as oldsters) is that if your suit causes you to bend over/stoop slightly when you put it on dry, it fits right!

Suz, suits do stretch/bag once they get wet. You want a very form fitting suit that will cling to you like a sausage casing! You do not want drag! For a long lasting suit, don't get razzle dazzled by patterns. Get a Speedo made from their Endurance fabric. The seams will wear out before the fabric will. Mine are 5 years old and I wear them every week, 52 weeks a year. They will set you back about $80.

This is probably a stupid question, but I'm quite ignorant, so bear with me.

I need a one piece suit for swimming in. I don't swim a lot, but I'll be going somewhere this spring where there's a pool as part of a fitness centre and I'd like to be able to use it. My daughter absconded with my last one piece suit. Which didn't really fit me terribly well in the first place.

I ordered one from Land's End. It is a high necked suit, which can be difficult to find. I thought it might be more flattering to me. And I was right. Or at any rate, it doesn't look bad. Sporty, obviously, but after all, it is for sport. So that's okay.

The thing is, I think, but am not sure, that it is too big. It seems right in the length. It fits in the bust, armhole area, and so on.

But there seems to be a bit of extra fabric in the mid section. It doesn't look skin tight like on the model. I know we are all about fluid fit these days, but in swimsuits?

I'm sorry -- no photo of me in it. If you need one, I will get it. It's just that I have a massive bruise on my thigh that I am not eager to show off.

So, I thought I would ask all you swimmers: Will it stretch out and bag terribly in the water? Should it start off really snug?

Thank you!
