I guess I'm seeing what Diana sees, because I'm getting a nightshirt vibe from the large one. But keep in mind I am an admitted conservative-to-moderate when it comes to embracing oversized silhouettes.

@Kristin, surprisingly I find myself leaning towards the larger one, and my plan would be to chop the sleeves above the elbow. I agree that my "true size" is more flattering, but I've been on the lookout for a breezy-easy summer dress, and with alterations I think the larger one might work as such (maybe?).

@Diana, how could I shoot you for your honesty?!? I left it at the store because I wasn't 100% sure either of these were right for me (is it sale goggles?), and I need you gals to be upfront about your opinions. I love the color and the fabrication, and I like (but don't love) the cut. I'm totally giggling about the hospital gown image, though; thanks for the laugh.
Size-wise I think you want to go somewhere in between these two extremes. I like the looser fit of the larger one but I don't like how enormous the sleeves are.

Style-wise, don't shoot me but I don't like it. It's the color and the belt I think that reminds me of those paper gowns they give you at the Dr's office after you take off your clothes. (Mine has gowns that are exactly this shade of blue.)
I think the one that's your size would be a great tunic. As for the other size, how much do you like it? If you like it, take it to a tailor. If you're on the fence, I'd say take it back because the way it currently looks is hiding how great you look.

I returned my Gap mesh sleeve sweater last night (y'all make yours drape so nicely, but it just hung limply off my IT shoulders). On my way home, I popped into Nordstrom Rack and noticed these gorgeous silk shifts.

I grabbed my regular size and -- for a lark -- the one 3 sizes up. Should I pop back into Nordstrom Rack tonight after work to grab either one?

Photos 1 & 2 - my normal size. The 3/4 sleeve hits me in a flattering place, and shoulder seam placement is perfect; it's a little short, though. I could wear it as-is, but might not wear it as a dress due to the length; tucking into jeans/trousers as a breezy top or wearing as a tunic are both options, though.

Photos 3, 4, & 5 - 3 sizes up. The puffed 3/4 sleeve is almost down to my wrist, and the shoulder seam is almost 2" off my shoulder. I love the longer length, but I pay for it with larger armholes and excess fabric along my mid and lower back (but not the front? I don't understand garment construction). Shown with the self belt to rein in some of the fabric. I would take this to a tailor to shorten the sleeve, and maayyyybbbee take in a little fabric off the back.
