When we would go beach combing, I never did more than wade and I always wore shorts or a beach dress over my bathing suit bottoms, if I wore a swim suit at all. Shorts and dresses work very well for beach combing. At resorts, I wore dresses and sarongs as cover ups. A sarong at camp would be highly impractical.<br /> I am really happy with the options I have purchased. They allow me freedom of movement and comfort in my own skin, no matter who is at camp or who stops by. I am happy to have joined Team Swim Shorts. I hear you about swimsuit shopping. 5 years ago, I struggled to find attractive swimsuits for a tropical vacation. Ugh. It was sooooo hard. I did find tankinis and a couple of one piece suits, but that was after trying on sooooooo many........ This time my focus was on function and fit. JFE might be stretching it a bit. I probably would not feel fab taking the new swim wear on a trip to a resort, but for family time on a lake in Maine, my standards are different. If I need to leave the property to run errands, I will change into shorts or a dress.<br /> Bijou, thank you. Yes, we are really fortunate to have this new place and so close by. Our previous camps were in the mountains and used mostly in the winters for snowmobiling and outdoor recreation. This new place will have 4 seasons of family fun between beach summers, water sports, ice fishing, skating and snowmobiling. There are even ATV trails near by! We hope our children and their families will love coming here and create many memories they will cherish. We have had family here each weekend since we closed. I can’t say that I love the swim bra I bought, but it does prevent irritation from the sleeveless rash guard and that is what I hoped. I imagine I will be purchasing a couple of others to wear under my short and long sleeved rash guards. I have and really like a swim skirt and swim shorts picked up last year at Target. I can wear them ( plain black or navy) over my older suits that have a pattern with black or navy background. I am most interested in the sleeveless rash guard. Lands End needs another try. I am usually sized out of their clothes, the smallest size being too big. It may be time to try again. A friend that swims daily swears by their tugless suits in long. Life took an accelerated pace for a bit as we closed on two properties and I jumped back into school prep and the start of the year.<br /> So, the swim wear....we closed on our forever camp (I call it that out of habit, but it’s more of a beach house) on August 23rd and I was officially back to work on August 26th.<br /> I already had a few tankinis, but wanted swim wear options that I could really move around in, being a GMOTG. Bending, quick steps, the occasional dash, in and out of the water, up and down deck stairs and the essential gathering of rocks for little hands to throw. I had zero time to shop so my research and purchases were all done online.<br /> Here is what I came up with:<br /> #1, swim shorts from Lands End. These are great! The inner swim brief is comfortable and doesn’t not shift around while moving or swimming. The fit is TTS. They are short, but offer enough bum coverage when I bend over. They are quick drying.<br /> #2 Swim skirt from Amazon: this little flirty skirt is fun and it has pockets! I really like the high rise waist and the fabric. The skirt is a little clingy when I first get out of the water, but once I have soaked up some of the water, from being wrapped in a towel, it loosens its hold on my skin and is more flattering. This is longer than the swimshorts and I think will get lots of wear. TTS<br /> #3 after the success of #2 I went back on Amazon to order another skirt and found this duo. The top is a sleeveless rash guard. I have only worn it twice, but it performed well. The fabric is the heaviest of the 3 I purchased, but works well for this time of year. Might be too hot on a true summer day. Time will tell. The rash guard top is fitted and I thought would contain my tatas without any additional support needed. It does, but I had some irritation. That problem was solved by wearing a swim bra underneath. TTS<br /> #4 high neck tankini top from Lands End. Good coverage, comfortable and slim fitting without being tight at all. It does not ride up while swimming. TTS<br /> #5 Sneak peek of a special moment with my GS, taken on our first night at camp.<br /> I was able to purchase these at end of season discounts. Now they are offered at deeply discounted prices.<br /> I also ordered 3 different rash guards, but have not worn them, so no rating.<br /> I hope these reviews are a bit helpful. I do want to say that looking for options other than a bikini or brief bottom was pretty easy. There are a lot of choices out there!<br /> Have a fabulous day! </p>
