Oh hey, I found these — in my size on Zappos. I think I may give them a try. Paige often works well for me. Pricey but I think this cut may suit me better.

Yeah, the dark “garnet” color is pretty, but not in stock. And the price is certainly appealing (the AG jeans are too pricey to not be perfect, even though I got them with a discount coupon).

Ok, designers, somebody come out with some great colored velvet full length flare/bootcut jeans!

Well, Lands End is a sports clothing company like LL Bean, so nothing is fashion fit, but I find the clothing TTS or maybe a size big in some items. But it's a go-to for me because I have long arms and legs and this is one company that doesn't cater only to petite woman. Eddie Bauer recognizes tall women exist, as well.

Great for well made basics and always good pricing. Who would think a sport clothing company would have so many colors/patterns of velvet jeans? That's why they keep selling out, but they'll replenish.....

Oh, Bennett, also good point that the skinny fit on these pants may be better with tunics, which I just don’t wear. I already have enough pants with that kind of fit from years past — they get worn with long jackets! So no more of those.

Thanks, everyone! This has been really helpful.

Bennett, I have never tried LE jeans. How is the fit/sizing? ETA: Oh well, the velvet ones I see on their website are not available in colors I like in anything near my size. I will continue the velvet pants search! I do have a pair of black velvet Kut Natalie bootcut jeans that I scored in some discount store (I think the Rack) for all of $20 last year, but I was keeping an eye out for a pretty rich color too. However, I’m just not seeing much in the way of velvet pants this year in colors and styles that speak to me. So many crops and skinnies STILL. And way too many colors like blush and mustard that do not suit my style at all.

Oh yeah, both the sweaters must stay - especially at this price! You look great in a wide mock neck.

I don't see a problem with the length of the pants, going by the model picture they are supposed to be ankle-baring. How else to show off your awesome booties? They do seem more like leggings fit-wise, which to me calls for longer tops like the two sweaters. I agree that you should keep looking for the same thing, but a different fit would be more versatile.

Ah, long-legged people problems. You see why I lament the dearth of full-length pants! Ok, the jeans go back.

I think I will hang onto both of the patterned sweaters for now and see what I reach for. At $24-30 each, they are not a significant risk!

Thanks for all the input — very helpful!

If anyone sees some good velvet jeans in a great blue, teal or burgundy, please let me know!

I like the jeans, if the length works for you. I have a similar pair of velvet jeans from Citizens, though mine are dark green as opposed to teal. I thought it would be an easy substitute for blue jeans all the time. And I've also had patterned sweaters in mind as well, animal print or camo perhaps.

All of your outfits look cute and cozy, the sweaters fit you well and the skinny pants and jeans look fantastic with them! Just make sure the jeans are long enough when you sit down and see how the sweaters feel after wearing (if any itch), I get that way with wool and avoid it.
The top in the last photo is very flattering on you and the dark clothing suits your style.

Cute jeans, but I think they really are too short. And not in a cropped way . What happens when you sit down ? Will they ride up even further? I like both sweaters - but they are so similar in silhouette and even in colour that I think one of them is enough? Slight preference for the second one as it drapes a little better.

Temps dropped 30 degrees in a matter of hours here — it was over 75 at one point yesterday, and 45 this morning when I woke up! So sweater weather is coming...

I have been keeping my eye out for one or two new patterned sweaters to refresh the old collection, and I was surprised to see that I’d edited out most of the grey from my patterned pieces, so these two appealed to me. Necklines this year are not my favorite, but I was surprised to see that this more open funnel-neck type of mock turtleneck is not bad on me (I do not like the close-fitting mock necks — they emphasize everything about my neck that needs no emphasis).

These are from Marshall’s — since knitwear is so inconsistent in quality these days, I find that I am happier not pouring a ton of $ into it, so the discount stores can yield some interesting finds if you have the patience to flip through the racks with a discerning eye. The first one is by Max Studio and is very soft and comfy. I am a fan of houndstooth so I’m pretty sure this is a keeper. The second one is by Christian Siriano and I love the pattern on it, but there is a slight chance it may be itchy. I’m going to try it around the house for a while with a thin layer underneath. It’s also a little chunkier and warmer, which I don’t always need, but I’ve weeded almost all my old chunky sweaters out of my wardrobe.

Thoughts? Opinions?

ETA: I’m trying these on with the velvet teal AG jeans I got at Anthro — the color does not show up well in pics, but I think I like them. I feel like they’re a little short but I think a high camp bootie helps fill the gap. I’m including a couple of photos I took with the black top I wore yesterday that I think show the fit/color a little better. The SA wanted me to go down a size but I thought that was too tight.
