I agree with what has been said. It just looks like the sweater is too heavy. Finding the perfect sweater dress is a tough task for everyone I think. I used to think it was easy for straight figures, but apparently not: one of my friends is straight, slim, and athletic, and she says sweater dresses just seem to droop on her. Who knew!

I have tried literally dozens of them and still haven't found one that's quite right for me. FYI, Boden has a few beautiful sweater dresses right now. I'm drooling over them, but they would be way too long for me. If you aren't petite you should give them a look.

Hi Shana, I think you can definitely wear this look given the sweater is the right material. You got some great advice from Nicole. I love your boots and the color of the sweater is great. I think v-necks or scoop necks would be very flattering on your figure. Good luck with your search!

Shana, I agree with Nicole that this particular sweater isn't the best for you and you deserve something that you feel great in! I really like the color of the sweater and your boots. Keep looking, something will show up!

Hi Shana, I think we have very similar body shapes, so please keep that similarity in mind when reading my response.

I think you can totally wear this look (skinnies, boots, tunic), but you are right in that this particular tunic is not right for you. I know why this tunic would not be right for me, so I'm going to go ahead and voice my opinion--please do not take offense--the problem is with the sweater, not the person wearing it.

The bulky cable knit is not working, nor is the general shape of the shoulder/sleeve/collar. It's too much bulk in the area you want to pare down.

I recently purchased (at TArget on Clearance for $14) a grey and black ombre sweater dress that had the right silhouette for us. I looked online but couldn't find it, but you can see it here: http://s289.photobucket.com/al.....Job005.jpg

The knit is thick, but its not bulky. I only wish it had long sleeves and had the color separation in a different spot. The simplicity of this dress and the way it's cut in the torso, makes this sweater dress work for me.

I like it alot with the cami and interesting necklace. With the long sleeves it looks to heavy to me.

So here's my attempt at trying to work this look. Like many others, I have had a really hard time find a sweater dress/tunic that will work. Most of the ones that I have found are too clingy in the belly area (how much longer can I use the baby excuse???) or are too long or too short or too bulky etc. Although an empire waistline might help with the clingy issue, I look pregnant in the ones that I have tried on so far.

Here I have paired a sweater tunic (from Marshalls) - it is a marled brown with elbow sleeves & shawl color. I've paired it with jean leggings/skinnies from target (similar to the ones that Laura posted awhile back) and some brown suede Timberland boots. I wish I had some chestnut riding boots to wear but alas, not this winter. I tried it with a long-sleeved crew neck tee which looks awful and then with a scoop neck tee which might work a little better. However, I still don't think it's a winning look for me. I don't know whether its that the shawl collar makes emphasizes my inverted triangle frame or whether the boots are too long (or the tunic too long) or the pattern emphasizes by belly too much....Something looks off to me. Any thoughts???
