The first thing I noticed in all these outfits, the fab shoes. Patent and leopards, what a fun shoe collection you have. I am the same way, I start craving darker colors with less contrast on the wet dark days too.

Interesting that the one that caught my eye was also #3. Of course I also love the other ones, the sweater dress is fabulous and #2 & #5 you could almost patent them as Kari's outfit .
You are always able to make small changes on the way you dress to keep things interesting and 'new'.

I'm particularly liking #3 also. And I love the play of colours in #1. It's different seeing you in muted tones, but you do them just as well as you do colour.

Wow, #3 looks stunning! I love, love, love it on you!

I really like the sweater dress on you as well, and that cobalt color always looks so good against your hair.

Like Shannon, I'm drawn especially to #3. But you also look great in that sweater dress!

I seem to be noticing a simpler way of dressing - one or two pieces, fewer noticeable accessories. Is that a genuine shift, do you think, or is it something temporary?

As usual Kari, these all work really well. I find myself totally enamoured with #3 though. The darker colours paired with that beautiful scarf and the stellar fit of each item just makes this outfit rich, luxe and gorgeous!

Well, despite having a patch of sun today, we've been stuck in some pretty intense morning downpours and chilly mornings in Seattle in the past few weeks, and I'm bundling up. I find my color preferences have shifted a bit too, at least depending on the day. Some mornings I'm grabbing my emeralds, peacocks, and spices oranges; other days, I'm gravitating towards black, burgundy, and gray, inspired by the earthy, leafy shades I see from our balcony.

A sample:
#1: Short cowl-neck sweater dress with dove gray, black, and brown stripes; brown lacy tights; owl pendant necklace; leopard print low-heeled pumps
#2: Emerald sunray pleat skirt; peacock blue boatneck sweater; turquoise and carnelian pendant necklace; pewter low-heeled loafers
#3: Black button-neck turtleneck sweater gray pencil skirt; black tights; burgundy patent pumps; black, white, and copper plaid scarf. (I wore this today for a delicious homemade brunch with my family.)
#4: Teal lace pencil skirt; peacock blue sweater; gold and turquoise brooch (a Secret Santa gift from Louise a couple years ago - I still love to wear it!); chocolate brown hose; burgundy patent pumps
#5: Emerald sunray pleat skirt, indigo V-neck sweater, the same pendant necklace as in #2; leopard print pumps. (This was my Thanksgiving outfit; B. and I joined his family for dinner.)

As much as I love my bright colors, sometimes wearing darker neutrals (using burgundy as a neutral shade) and creating my visual interest with texture and pattern instead of bright and wacky colors just feels right.
