Staysfit, sweaters are also the backbone of my wardrobe. My "wardrobe pets," too. I get it!

You have done a really nice edit here. I can't wait to see the trendy puff-sleeve sweaters in action.

And oh my. Now I am mildly obsessed with the idea of a puffer cape!

@UmmLila, sadly finds are not working on my new laptop. I need to figure that out or maybe message Greg. Both pink sweaters are from Nordstrom, the darker pink is a Halogen hi-low sweater. The other is from &Daughter. The latter is much nicer, all merino, very soft and stunning in person. My friend joked that she wanted to keep it’s as an easy to care for pet! It was my early birthday present to myself.
https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/d.....r=delicato

The Halogen is made with a mixed fiber, very soft, but it pilled the first time I wore it. I took a sweater shaver and tried to fix it, but I’m not sure. I love the color, but the quality is questionable.
https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/h.....20confetti

The periwinkle top in pic 16 is from Rag and Bone, and I purchased it on sale during NAS. I am not sure if it’s still available. I haven’t seen it on Nordstrom’s website, and I don’t remember seeing it on the RB site either. It has metallic silver trim which may look grey in the picture. If you are not able to find it, they may reissue it in some form next year or even this year. I would also check with Nordstrom, maybe someone returned one in your size but it isn’t in your local store or posted online. I recently returned the larger size, after ordering two because Angie suggested I try the larger, DH and my friend vetoed the larger size, it was much too big. I originally saw the sweater in the NAS catalogue and recognized it as similar but not the same as another RB sweater that is a favorite.

I have seen more sweaters in the light periwinkle color recently; on several sites, Nordstrom, Saks, and maybe one other. I think you may be able to find something similar, if not that sweater.

Angie, thanks for the reminder about outerwear for my puff sleeved sweaters. I have a woven cape which may be warm enough most days. I tried it on recently, but forgot to try it with my new sweaters. I may need to look for something warmer.....I saw a down puffer style cape and thought it would be nice except it was black. I will add looking for appropriate outerwear to my list....

Cardiff Girl, I’m sure my friend would be happy to help! :-)

Suntiger, I called Nordstrom and they still have the sweater available in my size, so they are exchanging it. I have 30 days to send back the defective sweater. I hope the new one is without any defects!

Elizabeth P. , I took my friend out for lunch to her favorite restaurant as a thank you......she deserved a reward for putting up with my closet antics!

Lyn67, your thinking is right on target. I am trying to get more items in the mid-range intensities of my colors because they will be more versatile and work better with my contrast level.

Bijou, thanks for the support, my DD is grateful I’m letting the warm whites go because she can wear them and they look great with her strawberry blond hair.

Unfrumped, I used to count my sweaters by category.....pullovers with crew necks, cardigans, turtlenecks, hoodies, etc. The overall number didn’t seem so overwhelming that way. Now that they all fit into one space, it’s truly a relief. When I counted, I didn’t expect there to be 90, because they are not squished together anymore, and I have ample free space on my shelves. I have no more sweaters in bins under my bed either. Sweaters are the equivalent of comfort food in my life! If you try to sort through yours I will cheer for you! There’s no need to post numbers.

Jussie, when I get some time I will post a pic of my wraps over dresses. I eliminated two warm white wraps, but I love wrap sweaters so much, that their replacement made sense. It was truly a one in one out with them.

Jen W, yes I will post pics when I wear the tinsel sweater, I thought about whether I could use it at Halloween, but I have another great costume idea using a cast off item......

Suz, I need to look at my pearls now! I don’t think any of them are too yellow, but maybe they are?! The nice thing about pearls is they come with various undertones just like the color white......

90, wow! Love that periwinkle color, though sad the dye didn't take all the way. Id think the creamy whites wouldn't be bad for light summer, but i have seen some slightly greyed whites this year that could work for you.

Great job, and I completely agree about getting rid of the warmer white tones as I think they may clash a bit with your hair which is a cooler hue, isn't it? I also love that you in some cases switched from lighter hues to mid hues as they will probably provode more contrast to your outfits. And now I can't wait to see you modelling nr 8 over a dress(what a great ideea!) and the new trendy statement ones from 12-13 in your future posts!

I also have lots of sweaters and need to edit. My winters are not as harsh but still, I live in sweaters for about 4-5 months because I run cold. I’ve been putting off actually counting them!

Jenn, I love knits. They are the mainstay of my wardrobe year round. I find them easier to fit than tailored items so I focus my energy on collecting them. My sweater counts include every knit item in my collection, not only my fall/winter sweaters. The total number includes summer cotton and linen sweaters and toppers, a fair number of sweater dresses, and it also includes fall and winter cardigans, ponchos and capes that I use as a third piece. I found a post from a few years ago where I list a count of 46 fall/winter pullover type sweaters in my closet . I have 37 now. It’s still a large number.....but I’m happy that the number continues to decrease.

90 sweaters!!! I’m guessing they’re a core part of your winter style, and they bring you a lot of joy, but that’s a -lot-. Phew! I can see why you have issues with friends wanting to play dress-up in your closet. It must be a wonderland in there!

Good work finding a friend who was tough and honest to help you with the clean out!

I’d definitely return or exchange the one with the white thread showing. That’s not acceptable quality.

Wow, what a fabulous edit and refresh! I can sympathize with you about the creamy whites. I used to be able to wear them quite successfully as a "blonde" but with my silver hair I find them more difficult. I have kept one or two tops because they are so useful for underneath jackets but otherwise steer clear of the yellowish whites -- even pearls can feel too yellow.

I see what you mean about the blue sweater and that stitching! I wonder if it is flawed and you can exchange?

I invited a friend to help with my closet edit. Angie had suggest this as an option. I typically shop on my own or with DD, but rarely with friends, so I had to carefully consider whether this would help. It turned out to be very helpful, maybe because the friend I invited was not afraid to be brutally honest. She told me that it would be better for her to tell me I look like a clown than for people to laugh at me behind my back! :-)

With her help I managed to fill four more bags with clothing and to eliminate 12 pairs of shoes. I tried everything on, and she assessed fit and color, plus whether the item looked worn out or dated. Her father owned a cleaning and tailoring business, so she was picky about dart placement and quality of the construction. We also have very different body types, professional roles, and personal style so she wasn't tempted to play dress up in my closet like DD or some other of my friends.

She agreed that white is no longer a great neutral for me but not all whites are bad. She thought whites with warm/yellowish undertones were the worst. I pulled put all my white sweaters, and have only three left! The rest are going to DD who can wear this color well, and said she wanted them.

I also eliminated stripes, a couple dresses in the wrong color, and one or two item that were worn from frequent wear.

My style refresh included purchase of some high rise Jean's and I also purchased one pair of almost boot cuts since these were trends mentioned by Angie. I have a few cropped sweaters in my collection that work well with a high rise Jean, but I wanted to find a couple trendy statement knits for the season. I opted for something with puff shoulders, fitted wrists, and a fitted torso. I think this style looks like something a storybook princess might wear, which could get costumey, so I tried my choices on for my friend who loved them. I also added a couple pink sweaters which are hard to find in my palette. One was inexpensive and pulled the first time I wore it. The light pink feels wonderful and replaced a sweater I wore out last year. These are essential pieces and very simple in design. I also found two wraps, one in a great color, and the other is a statement piece with the puff shoulders and fitted bodice I was seeking. It looks great with dresses and is the way I will update my simple sheath dresses. I bought a Rag and Bone ribbed blue and grey sweater at NAS, and tried two sizes. Angie suggested sizing up, but DH and my friend thought the smaller fit better. I found a form fitting rib sweater from Theory, in light blue and a boucle cashmere hoodie also purchased at NAS. I just purchased a light navy long cardigan recently but when I was taking its picture noticed some white yarn in the seam on one side only. I'm not sure I will keep it now even though it feels and looks like very high quality cashmere. I also purchased a basic navy cashmere v neck that fit well. I like it for making a column of color in certain outfits. I purchased an EF grey ribbed tunic sweater with a split turtleneck. I still enjoy long straight silhouettes so I will continue to wear them.

In hold I put two light blue sweaters. My friend thinks they are okay but not great. One is too chunky and stiff and the other is too big. Both are showing signs of wear. They may become lounge wear for cold days. The other item I put in holding is a bulky blue-green cardigan which is too heavy for wearing in my workplaces. I love the color but it's super warm.

Pics 1-5 are some of the eliminated items along with one white top for comparison so show how warm toned they are.

Pic 6-7 are the sweaters going into holding. I suspect the blue will become sweaters to wear for shoveling snow, and or lounge wear.

Pic 8 is the puff sleeve wrap
Pic 9-11 are the two new pink sweaters
Pic 12 is my trendy new statement sweater.
Pics 13-15 are the blue wrap from DVF, and the blue R&B and hoodie from NAS.
Pic 16 is the ribbed Theory sweater
Pics 17,18 are the cardigan I might return with white yarn showing at one seam.
Pic 19 is the navy v neck.
Pic 20 is the EF tunic

I included my color palette with some of the pics.

It looks like a lot of new sweaters! This is where I spend the bulk of my clothing budget. I also added fewer than I removed.

I have fewer than 90 sweaters right now including summer sweaters. This is the lowest my total has been since I started posting on the forum.

I mostly stick with solids but am still considering the possibility of adding a tweed and a fair isle sweater to my collection to finish this years update.

There is one new wildcard sweater I didn't post. It's a metallic sweater. I have loved good quality metallic knits, and this one looks a bit like tinsel.
