I think the layered look is very strong - sweater dress and topper. I also like covering the ankles. Eg I like the boots and would wear leg warmers with the oxfords.

Oh, you've made me crave a sweater dress now! You look so good in yours. I have a real 'sugar eye' for a long-line cardigan or topper over a sleek dress and I'm loving the proportions of yours. Both oxfords and knee high boots work very well too. The suggestions for toppers and different cardigan shades made by the other ladies are great and I think would look fab. The other dress on its way to you looks good too BTW.

Thanks for all the feedback! I've got some leather or suede or faux leather shorter jackets that I've tried on with the black sweater dress, but they didn't quite hit me. I'll take photos next time around and post them for help figuring out what works and what doesn't.

I've got such a weakness for very long jackets--I love to stride around in them and shove my hands in my pockets when I'm lecturing or leading a seminar--that I'll probably keep wearing them even if they look like outerwear.

Grey on grey is so tricky (I'm amazed that the hose and the dress went together) but I'll keep my eyes out for items that will work.

One more sweater dress is on its way (see the find), so I'll definitely continue working on this project.

You look terrific, especially in the grey at a longer length. Yes to a leather jacket, if you have one. It's a blank slate and you can dress it up or down however you like.

You look FABULOUS in these! I like the grey at the slightly longer length in your second set of pics, it's a simpler look when there's less fabric to gather around your hips. You could pair this dress with so many things --sleek with a long jacket or cardi, edgier with Rute's suggestion of the leather jacket. And it's fab with the oxfords. I like the black version too, but there's something about a grey sweater dress that's catching my eye right now. I like you in the white, too; I love its diagonal detail. It might take a heavier slip underneath to prevent the clinging look you talk about. And I'm with Jeanie on styling it with grey or taupe for a softer look. Though I enjoyed that pic of your pup saying, "Look, we're wearing matching outfits today!"

These are GREAT looks! I love all the lengths, as long as it's above the knee. I agree that a slip would be good with the cream dress. I've had a few things that acted similarly, and a slip seemed to fix it. The slip keeps it from catching, and also "fills in" so the dress has no way to curve back in like that.

WoW ! Love the gray ! You have a fantastic figure for these.

I wear a grey sweater dress that is slightly shorter than this to work with a long slightly darker gray sweater and grey tights for a monochrome look with a large contrasting ropey 6 string necklace.

YOU rock this look !

I love, love this look on you!!!!!!!!! You slay it in 1/2 and 7/8. I am not sure the coat in 3/4 works as perfectly. To my eye, it looks very much like outerwear.

Geek chic--I like that! I do have a grey cashmere cardigan exactly the same length as the white/cream dress, but I haven't had an occasion to wear them together yet. Since I don't have a cream cardigan, I probably should pick one up. Here's the grey dress worn a little longer, which means a lower waist as well. I think I may like the dress itself better that way. (It's also closer to how the dress is worn in the "Finds" photos.)

And I think it might have to be a slip for that dress. It doesn't seem so much like it's "cling," but rather as if it's the tendency of the dress to take that shape.

You look great in these sweater dresses. I do like the geek chic of the oxfords with the dresses. I would love to see the white one styled with a long grey or taupe cardigan and and some taupe shoes and lighter tights. I bet that cream cardigan would look good with the grey sweater dress. As far as length, I think they look good just above the knee.

Another sweater dress lover here. So warm and cozy. I wonder if the dress is sticking to your tights in 6. A slip or even anti static spray might help. I think I'd like the dress best worn a bit longer, like hitting the knee, but it is hard to tell without seeing it. Footwear and topper can figure into the proportions. I like the oxfords.

Love the grey dress. Wow what a figure! I see what you mean about the white dress showing too much underwear outline. Maybe a slip would fix? Have you tried it? Maybe Spanx would help. Smooth things out.

I like you better in the grey instead of the black or white dress. Just my preference.

My new enthusiasm is sweater dresses. The first one is what I wore for work today. 1 and 2 are just the dress, an Ann Taylor. The wrinkles are after a few hours of sitting at my desk. 3 and 4 are with the long jacket (is it a coat dress?) and scarf I also wore. I'm combining two loves here--one old (very long jackets, worn as toppers and not just as outerwear) and one new (sweater dresses)--so I'm hoping this works. Oh, and a relatively new shoe love--oxfords with skirts/dresses. Does it work?

5 and 6 are a dress I've had for a while, worn with a very long cardigan, for the fun and dash of it. Do the cardigan and boots work with this dress? And another, probably more important question: When I look at the photos, not the mirror, I see how the dress curves in at the crotch. This is a problem, isn't it? Will a slip fix it?

And 7 and 8 are the black version of the same Ann Taylor, still at the store (I did buy it). Does this combination work? Should I go back and get the cardigan?

And on both the black and grey dresses--what's the best length for me? Because of how the waist works, I could wear it at almost any length. Does it depend upon the topper?
