I am excited to report that I finally did try the Cadets on, and the drooling has subsided. I really love the thigh hugging OTK look on others, but I seem to be quite long from foot to knee - they barely cover my kneecap, and the top of the boot sticks straight up when I sit due to where it hits my knee, rather than curving with it like I wanted it to.

The exciting part is that I found some black knee high boots and a bunch of other loot instead! Photos will be taken...

I live in Seattle and got a previous version that was all leather. They're fine for our weather. Heck I even wore them in my bike contest entry.

We get a lot of Seattle-like weather here in Baltimore too! I would think they'd be pretty practical.

Good luck! Now I just need to figure out if it is ridiculous to buy a half fabric boot in Seattle :/.

I think OTK boots with high heels evoke Pretty Woman, but flat ones like these I think will have some staying power.

I can't wait to try mine on when I get home. I'm a little nervous about how they'll look on my not-so-skinny thighs, but I'm hoping the length of my legs helps them look right on me!

I think they look classic too, but I just can't remember anyone outside of the Pretty Woman context wearing OTK boots before a couple years ago - have I just been in a fashion vacuum? The OTK trend is what I'm concerned about, not this style. Although on the other hand, most of my wardrobe is boring and functioonal and things I don't LOVE, so maybe I can love these for a little while rather than getting something serviceable that will last forever.

I think they look very classic, so it's hard to imagine they'll look dated in a few years. I just received mine today and haven't had a chance to try them on yet (UPS man came right as I was leaving for a meeting). But the back stretchy part looks like it would be fine in the rain. I probably wouldn't take them through a jaunt in foot-high snow, but I can't imagine rain would hurt!

Alright ladies, Mr. Weitzman keeps calling my name, but I haven't been able to find the answer to this: the back of the boot is stretchy - is it waterproof/resistant, or would I need to avoid wearing them in the rain? On a related note, how long is the Nordstrom Half-Yearly, and can I call and have a size put on hold? And will they look dated in a couple years?
