It's too structured/ substantial. It would look and feel odd to layer over it. This is the outer layer.&nbsp;</p> <p>It would not be warm enough for our very coldest days. But it would be warm enough for most of our winter. It zips all the way up -- they have shown it only buckled for some unknown weird reason. In fact, the zip goes bottom to top, and the collar is a high stand collar. I think it would be at least as warm as my (unlined) wool blend pea coat -- probably warmer. The pea coat is also quite fitted in the shoulder but I do layer jackets underneath it and don't seem to mind that.&nbsp;</p> <p>Shannon, you're right -- this coat makes quite a statement! But it's also got a sporty element to it that makes it possible to imagine it over jeans as well as dresses. The two way zip also facilitates that -- despite the fact that it is fitted, it doesn't inhibit movement.&nbsp;</p> <p>On me, of course, it's longer than on the model. Not quite knee length, but just a few inches above. It would work with sheaths, pencil skirts, and pants. I don't think it looks good with a flared skirt. I would wear it with dresses and skirts -- for sure -- but&nbsp;I see it more as a pea coat alternative --&nbsp;and which one would I reach for?
