I certainly wear shorts in my non air conditioned home workplace when it is as hot as it currently is. (We have the same weather as you, more or less).&nbsp;</p> <p>Do you have one of the VC tube skirts? It would look really great on you and is a lot less structured than a typical pencil skirt. And it can work for the extreme heat, within limits, of course -- I wouldn't choose it for a day with absolutely no breeze. But I have one on today (sitting in the fan's range). There isn't really a dress code, so I wear what I feel comfortable with given the circumstances. In 18 years no one has told me I'm inappropriately dressed, but I'm typically more nicely dressed than the rest of the staff and our clients, even with something like this. </p> <p>ETA: I don't want to sound like I'm the best dressed, I am not, just that I think I'm dressed in a way that identifies me as being in a different role, which I am. I almost stopped wearing it out of sadness for your loss, but I know you found a replacement last summer. It was 91 F and no a/c at work. So this is how I kept from melting. I kept it very casual and simple. A linen tee, shorts and a pair of Pedro Garcia sandals. Oh, and some light makeup. </p> <p> I couldn't help but think of you throughout the day. I was trying to channel your wonderful writing skills. It worked because I didn't experience my typical writers block! The power of suggestion is very strong! Even in the form of a linen shirt. </p>
