Maybe you can work with your tailor to figure out the best option for the length, based on their cut. The fewer alterations the cheaper. And Suz, consider wearing the shorts with the long jacket, even though that is not your normal modus operendi. Because the shorts and blazer are the same color, I don't think it will have the torso lengthening/leg shortening effect you fear.
