I think the flimsy fabric is likely a dealbreaker. (also Amy detesting it). :). I could still try it. I would not want another shirt that is likely to rip if you look at it the wrong way

Mochi, you'll definitely need a cami for that top.

As for the bow, you could probably pick it off and use the fabric from the bow to bind the neck edges; however, I just don't think the shape of the neckline would make that very attractive. If you like the blouse, you'd probably have better luck leaving the bow on.

Also, that fabric is terribly flimsy and I don't know that it would hold up to surgery very well.

I'm sure there must be other polka dotted tops out there that are nicer and more in keeping with your style preferences.

I'm biased though: I just don't like that top at all. It looks cute on Nordie's website, but it looked awful on me

Hmmm. Yes I know what you mean about the transparent blouses abounding. I really like the one with the bow but I think you need to try it as is and not remove the bow. By your description, I was expecting this huge, starched appendage! The print helps make it less obstrusive, and I don't think it would add any bulk at all to your chest. I worry it could loose it's reason for living if you de-bow-ify it.

Club Monaco (last year?) had a blouse with a very similar pattern (I think Angie has this same one, and wore it in her post on Fernanda). That one's also see-through! For some reason I'm just really drawn to it. And funnily enough, I recently bought the reverse version (black with white dots):

You're right, and I should just stick with the biggest size. It's too bad also about the transparency, which I think is also a trend...? I see a lot of Nordstrom see-through silk blouses on their site. So I'd need to wear it with an undergarment/cami, and keep it under a jacket. I really do love the pattern--ordinarily I wouldn't bother with all these possible downsides.

I THINK that's the blouse Amy recently tried on and found to be transparent and gapey.

Maybe different on you, but definitely size way up.

I think you need to try it - I'm busty and quite broad across my chest as well, but I think the v-neck of that shirt, and the drape-y fabric, would make it pretty flattering.

Thanks, ladies. Yeah, I would prefer sleeves but I'd wear it like a shell under a jacket. Do you need a blouse to have sleeves (ie want to be able to wear it without an overlayer)?

(crossposted with lyn)

Yes, that's why I think I *could* get myself warmed up to the look...but am not sure I should be added any bulk at all around there. OTOH, It's kind of like wearing a scarf, which I do...I guess I should order it and try it out!

I have a similar blouse and I wear it a ton .... twice a week. LOL.

I don't know about taking it out... I think part of it's charm is the bow.

Funny, Mochi, because I love that blouse, too, but I'm avoiding it for a different reason: because it's sleeveless. I really like the print and I think you could wear it fine, even loosely tying it. Here's a blog on scarf tying that Isabel posted a while back. It may help you here with this project: http://www.maitaispicturebook.com/

You don't have to tie it into a bow. You can even tie it into a windsor knot like a man's tie.

I was going to pose this individually to our sewing superstar Amy (who's already familiar with it, too), but maybe there's additional sage advice in numbers.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ha.....hoppingbag

This blouse, I really love the pattern and I should be able to fit somewhere within either 14 or 16, so could order both and try them. I would wear it with jackets and cardigans.

Anyhow, I dislike the bow, and bows like that in general. Is there a way to remove it without ruining the structural integrity of the garment? I don't expect it to look completely perfect, or at least like nothing was there before, but my mom's a sewer and pretty clever at doing these things.

I don't exactly hate the look of bows (and could warm up to them a little, though the less embellishment, the better, always, for me). But as I'm large-busted, would it be a bad look for me if the bow had to stay? I really like the blouse otherwise.

Thanks!
