I was just at Trader Joe's yesterday (highly recommending the Creamy Toscano Cheese Soaked in Syrah sliced and served on Raisin Rosemary Crisps!) and I've got to try this pizza recipe. Your description and photos sold me! So have your "Second Base" links as well as your very clever "cami chop" technique!

Mona, me too, but we've been eating out, and unhealthily so, way too much this year. We're trying to instead cook at home, but cook bigger meals so we have leftovers that we enjoy. We still have half a pizza left and I think I'm going to have some for my dinner tonight before we meet B's friends at our regular pub.

Meredith, I'm glad that you did the same thing and had it work out well. Did you add elastic or anything to keep the ends from unraveling?

Layers that ride up are the WORST. I HATE feeling fidgety all day!

The pizza looks delicious and your dress looks great! I know what you mean about layering pieces riding up. This last winter I had some shirts that were too short to wear on their own but looked bunchy layered underneath vneck sweaters. So I did exactly what you did. I cropped them to about midriff length and they work like "dickies".

That pizza looks yummy. I love to cook but these days I find that I barely have anytime to spend in the kitchen. We depend a lot on pre-made food and off course pizza is all time favourite in my house.

Your description of the dress and scarf as a hyper-saturated sunset is lovely.

I didn't mention that my frustrating moment with my camisole - where I reached the end of my rope - took place at work, so I marched into the bathroom armed with scissors, de-robed in a stall, and hacked away until I was happy. It was the last straw!

You are all welcome for pizza. I'll keep this on the back burner for the next YLF meetup that involves a potluck!

That's so clever with the cami - I may try that to get some shorter cami's for summer, since I'm still getting over Second Base sticker shock. (It's weird how somethings I balk at the price, and with others I'm a total spendthrift.)

I love the outfit and the pizza. Any tips for working with pizza dough? I can never get it flat.....

B. could attest to the fact that neither of us are the handiest in the kitchen (while we each have a couple fool-proof recipes from scratch under our belt, the list isn't very extensive yet.) However, we're striving to eat at home more often, and cook larger meals so that we have tasty leftovers for nights when we're rushed rather than running out to grab something pre-made at the grocery store.

Last night I was coming off of a long day at work and needed something simple and quick, so I opted for pizza. I used my favorite pre-made pizza dough from Trader Joe's and spread spinach leaves across the surface, then brushed them with olive oil. Meanwhile, I'd sliced some roma tomatoes and had them in the oven on some aluminum foil. After 10 minutes I popped them on the pizza as well in addition to some sliced chicken apple sausage and a mozzarella/goat cheese mix. The flavor combination was incredibly tasty, and B. stated that I should definitely cook this mix again in the future. (It would have been equally tasty without the sausage as a vegetarian pizza.) We don't usually have dessert, but tonight we both felt like enjoying a scoop of Tillamook mint chocolate chip ice cream in the dainty little ice cream dishes I picked up a couple summers ago.

In terms of less culinary pursuits, I felt like re-creating this outfit from the recent "inspired by nature" style challenge week. I love how the colors in the dress and scarf remind me of a hyper-saturated sunset.

At first I tucked the pink patterned silk scarf in under my blue Banana Republic wrap dress the way I had the first time, but was starting to feel fidgety after a couple minutes (the ends weren't staying put when I added my ID badge lanyard) so instead I turned the scarf around, adding a simple knot so that the middle of the scarf covered my neck, and the wide ends reminded me of a tie on a sailor's uniform. This time around I wore my orange ECCO pumps and turquoise/burgundy specs, and I was done.

For modesty, as this dress is rather low-cut, I always wear a camisole underneath. This one is fuchsia colored, and while I love the hue, it drives me nuts by rolling up my midsection throughout the day. I ended up hacking off the elastic on the shelf bra and cropping the camisole to ribcage-level - a mock "Second Base" camisole - and it's much more comfortable, and staying in place much better. I was shocked and very pleased! Perhaps I'll do the same with some of my other layering camis that are in good shape but just shift around too much.
