Go for something constructed with zip closure to provide a clean fit - try to avoid elastic. And its quite okay for the pleats to disappear on the hip on a less full sunray skirt (some are fuller than others depending on the cut). I actually prefer that look. The Trina Turk sunray does that and I love the effect.
