My summer workhorses were these Bernardo Maverick sandals. I have them in several colors. I broke my pinkie toe in late June, and wore these sandals virtually every time I went out in public for two months. They are very nice quality sandals on their own, but they had the added benefit of not touching my toe. I can wear regular shoes and sandals now, but I was so grateful I had these.

This summer has been cooler than most. I'm trying hard not to purge summer items that didn't get a lot of love because I know hot, humid summers are still likely.

I've also been trying to combat PF before I go back to work in September so I've been living in arch support, aka Birks. After Angie's post on boho tops I picked up this one and I could wear it every day! These pants from Uniqlo have been great. Light and breezy but a bit more covered as it's been cooler. Great for summer casual but suitable for work too.

I've experimented with a lot of swim cover ups over the years and finally found the perfect one. Swimming been in short supply this summer - weather/DD's injury - but I've worn it just enough to know I hope it lasts forever!

This past winter I experimented with using a wristlet instead of a larger bag in most cases. Love it! My winter one is burgundy and I wanted a different colour for summer. I was hoping for cognac but couldn't find the right one so opted for this navy instead and it's fit the bill.

I love this!
It's so interesting that some items seem to come back only from diffrerent companes. That's when you see how a given trend actually embodies itself into pple's busy lives, and what works or not.

My personal workhorses this summer were:

- Handsdown no questions asked my tan Rockport Cobb Hill Gabby open toe ankle sandal/bootie. I wore it with everything and it seemed to update old outfits.

- My Lilie&Cohoe black Grace hat (sorry I only found an image in white but mine is black). The next day I thought it had been a mistake to pick it in this hue because I thought the rim made my undereyes bluer and more tired but finally it's not the case and I've got a lot of compliments. I It was a total splurge (Can $168) so afterwards I forced myself to wear it in order to bring down the CPW at least. Soon enough I was hooked.

- My black Blondie shorts from Annie50: tailored shorts in a thicker cotton/polyester material, and a funky button line on the front. So glad I finally found shorts that don't look immediately too skimpy on my rounder thighs, and the inseem doens't ride up, so I think this is the reason it became a workhorse during hotter days.

It's so fun to see everyone's workhorses. My items were kind of a surprise to me. Just a few days ago, I realized that I'd reached for the loafers almost any time I didn't wear sneakers this summer, and I'd never even bothered with sandals. And the Athleta tops were a last minute purchase I didn't need at all, but ended up choosing over other tops quite often.

Author Linda...that EF dress is on my wishlist.

Unfortunately, I don't really have any summer workhorses in my clothing right now. I've gained weight and had to buy new clothes, and I'm still cycling through to see what works well and what needs to just go away. My h&m long tees seem to be something I grab for more often, so they might become heavy hitters (although I may have to replace the green one with a different color). I wear them to work a quite a bit, and they were wonderful for my road trip to Georgia recently--made driving so much more comfortable with those tees and some leggings.

I've gotten a lot of miles out of my Sperry & Splendid slip-on sneakers, so they're probably my footwear heavy hitters. They just go with anything and are comfortable enough for 10 hours on my feet at work.

A colourful Fossil shopper and a pair of white Naturalizer loafers..

I've been wearing a lot of blue and white, so the bright orange, fuchsia, apple green, and other colours of the bag provide a 'pop-if colour'. The white
Loafers go with just about everything, and are comfy to boot.

Ohhhhh Aquamarine those loafers are a beautiful color! I also purchased two of the Athleta linen tops and they have been winners this summer. I have been wear them with pants and shorts at home and for travel. For work my JC Teddy pants have been in high rotation as well as all my pencil skirts and sheath dresses . In the spring/early summer (before it became too hot) I was thoroughly enjoying the embroidered cropped denim pants Angie shared. They are so soft, stretchy and comfy. Can't wait to wear them again as the temps cool down a little.

My summer workhorses have been my Earth Bay sandals and a Loft dress that I first thought was too young/girly but ended up being versitile (work appropriate with a topper + closed shoes or casual with sandals). For casual wear, I've worn my "GOOD VIBES" tee quite a lot because it makes me smile.

I bought some All Birds runners and loved them/wore them so much I ordered another pair in a fall color. Now that I've had my knees replaced, I'm walking for miles.

Loving my EF denim dress also.

I bought some long maxi skirts for weekends. I've loved them!

I also bought a short-sleeved cardi as a "third piece". I've been surprised how much I've worn it since we moved where we are in the building.

What items have been workhorses for you this summer? For me, it's been the Franco Sartos (so comfy! And now in fall colors!), as well as an Athleta linen top, which I ended up duplicating in another color. It's longer on me than on the model, and worked well with pants/jeans, shorts, and my tube skirt. It didn't really wrinkle, and it was so comfy and cool in our humid summer. At first I thought the large armholes would make it a non-starter, but once I popped a Second Base cami over my bra...bingo! (That's a tip from Angie a few years ago.)
