Momo, I am sending a big hug your way because it sounds like you need it. Good luck finding some cool comfortable ways to dress. There are plenty of great suggestions here, and I am not the one to give advice for your situation.

I agree with Inge about drapey tops. Crossover tops camouflage both boobs and bellies and I find sleeveless ones cool enough for the heat.

Inge offers great ideas. I also struggle with transition dressing, especially heading towards warmer weather. It's always stressful to suddenly have to BARE body parts, yikes! I still haven't found that elusive third piece for summertime dressing.

Last year I discovered crossover tops, and they were a godsend. Loose yet not sloppy.

I love vests on other people, but havn't found the right one for me yet. And I too fear looking frumpy if I wear one with short sleeves, as opposed to sleeveless. Funny how a few inches of sleeve can change the look.

Summer is the most difficult season. Less to work with. This is my second year of more serious contemplation and I'm still floundering... sorry no help, just commiseration.

Momo, I am SO there with you. It is already hot here (in Texas) and I am a disaster on the weekends trying to get dressed. I felt put-together and confident in the fall and winter this year (because of YLF, thanks y'all!) but then summer comes, and it's like I'm the awkward kid at a school dance, wearing a frumpy dress. ANYWAY...

I did get the KUT Linen Vest posted above. I like it. It is definitely boxy, but I think it's JFE and I wore it with the idea that at least it's stylish. I can look fat/etc. but at least be stylish; without it, I'm fat AND unstylish!

Torontogirl.. Yes! A good focus. And you are absolutely correct it is most important not to pass out from heat exhaustion ;-).

Thistle ..I would say mostly regular or none unless I am at a cold store or restaurant or movie.

Hi Momo, yes, I think you need to do something really kind for yourself - a great pedi or a lovely lipstick that you feel great in; something unrelated to body parts that reminds you you are beautiful!
I also like the dress idea ... they are such a great summer option, and if you find one you are happy with the fit, just buy it in a few colors and Bob's your uncle. I also hate summer dressing and find the "function before form" rule helps me ... just as in the dead of winter, fashion sometimes has to take the backseat, so it is in the dog days of summer. We don't live on a runway after all! Good luck :)

I'm thinking that finding a good fit might be a little difficult but I like Inge's idea of dresses. You might look into having a few made for you?
Some professional help might be useful too. Describe your needs and challenges briefly and ask one of the salespeople which associate they'd recommend to help you choose a few things?
Or an appointment with a stylist?
I know exactly how you feel, and I wish I'd spent less time being unhappy about it. You are definitely not un-dressable.

I find summer dressing difficult too. I like a drapey tee for minimizing the bustline and skimming over bits. I got a couple from The Gap. They have diagonal sleeves (flattering on the arm) and no seams at the shoulders (which can sometimes make me feel like a linebacker).

I can't do finds on my iPad but here's the link.

http://www.gapcanada.ca/browse.....=421348053

I've also been thinking about a vest. I'm not sure in what silhouette - maybe long and ultra lightweight? It'd give a bit of coverage. Problem is what to do underneath. A tank (which Lisa did beautifully under her pink moto) may not be flattering on less than perfect upper arms and a tee might skew frump. So I'm no help there!

I hear you, Momo. Summer dressing, when we can't rely on a third piece like a jacket, can be tough.
I like Lyn's ideas, and a long (or short) vest instead of a jacket could be fun.
Do you like to wear dresses? They are an easy breezy option, and waist-surrendering silhouettes can hide the bits we don't want to reveal. I also like the idea of faux wrap (surplice) blouses with jeans and trousers, flowy tunics over skinnies, on trend trackpants, super lightweight relaxed fit knitwear, lightweight shirts semi-tucked or faux-tucked...

I'll have a look around Finds, and add some items below that fit the bill for inspiration.

I have a lot of trouble with summer dressing. I am curvy and busty and I rely on jackets most of the year to downplay ..ok truthfully hide...my boobs. I also run very hot and I find hot weather very uncomfortable. There is something about the change of seasons that always makes me feel fat, icky and completely unable to figure out what to wear.. So.. Clearly I have body image issues but... I also need some practical help... What can I wear for the summer that will be comfortable, attractive and give me that tiny bit of hiding that makes me feel most comfortable? Any ideas are welcome!
