I'm sure the dress will be beautiful with the sleeves. I didn't realize that you never go sleeveless. It will be very nice as designed on the pattern.

Thanks everyone - I talked to my mom & she said the color of the dress is more a dark royal blue, not navy. My sis was hoping to find navy fabric, but the royal was as close as she could get.

I'm pretty limited in shoe stores around here, but I'll have an opportunity to shop in a bigger city about a month before the wedding. I agree that leather would be much better, but I can't afford to spend lots on a sandal I'll only wear occasionally when I also have basic every day sandals to purchase this summer as well. I do worry about comfort, though.

Oh, and there will be 3 of us. One of the bridesmaids I know, and she's very slender, not many curves. The other bridesmaid is Cat's future sister in law, and I've never met her. All I've heard is that she is petite. I'm quite sure the dress will look nice on me - I hope it looks good on the others too.

Unfortunately I can't wear sleeveless dresses due to religious reasons, so I hope the sleeves look OK in the end. Perhaps I can somehow take out some of the volume after the wedding, or just replace the sleeves with less volume sleeves. I think it will make it more wearable in the long term.

I'm glad silver sandals get the OK!!

I love the idea of that dress in dark blue for you Christine! The shoes look lovely too. I was wondering the same thing as Brianna, but since you can try them on irl, you can find out before buying them;-)

The sandals Angie blogged about, could be a good alternative:

Those sandals would work really well, Christine. I wore a navy bridesmaid dress in a summer wedding a few years ago and we wore silver shoes like those. Note that the ones you linked to are synthetic, so the straps won't give at all.

I think silver sandals sound perfect with navy blue. The question is are they comfy? The dress design looks very pretty!

Your sister has been kind to you by choosing a flattering pattern. How many bridesmaids will there be? I hope they all have a nice waistline like you have because the pattern definately accentuates the waist.
I imagine this dress will be beautiful in dark blue flowy fabric. I, like you, am also a bit unsure about the sleeves, but maybe after the wedding you can take the sleeves off and possibly the sash too and make it less dressy so you can wear it more often, if that's what you'd like.
Keep us posted on how the dress comes along. This is fun.

Strappy silver sandals sound perfect! Everyone should be able to find some, especially if they start looking now.

So, if you remember, my sister asked me to be her matron of honour at her wedding this summer. She decided she wants all her ladies to be in the same dress, and picked out this pattern for us:

http://www.voguepatterns.com/i.....038;page=1

We will do the version with the sleeves. I'm not 100% sold on these sleeves, but sleeves are not optional, so that's what we'll do. Her fabric is dark blue and 'flowy' (in her words). I'm guessing it's like a silk crepe, at least, that's what my mom & I talked about before Mom took Cat shoppin. I think it will be pretty, and the shape is very flattering.

Her wedding colors are dark blue, light blue & silver. We may add a light blue sash to the dress.

She asked my opinion on shoes. I'm thinking strappy silver sandals. Would they look OK with a dark blue dress? Specifically, I found these shoes at a local mall (I'mnot brave enough to shoe shop online). http://www.myspringshoes.com/c.....8354-tonti

So, what do y'all think?
