Thanks for the suggestions, ladies. Now I just need to come up with some extra $ so I can shop!

I found a pair of denim clam diggers the other day at a local shop. I have white and black in my closet that I'm hoping will work for now. I'm going to try to order the dresses Khris linked and look for more when I go to Vegas in a couple of weeks. I have gladiator sandals on my list, as well. (I did not care for the style a couple of years ago...funny what time will do sometimes.) And, I really want a moto jacket, even though it's almost too warm for it and will likely sit in the closet until next winter.

Sometimes a regular bra works- a racer back bra works better (or even one of those contraptions that holds regular bra straps together in the back). I usually do end up with a strapless bra for the summer, though.

I am in the same boat! I have always bought more for my work wardrobe and "made do" with my weekend wear, but I cleaned out my closet this weekend and realized I need to do some major summer shopping! I think I have one dress that will do this summer, and that is it! Yikes!

I looked at Angie's mom-on-the-go outfits for inspiration (I have summers off, so I'll be dressing casually.). I'm going to go check out those Kut from the Kloth shorts, and then the Old Navy distressed jacket and tunic dress that are all posted on the shopping link (so helpful). From there, I'm going to try to purchase looks that fit the three mom-on-the-go formulas. I've found when I just buy individual pieces, they become orphan items.

Let me know if you find anything!

HI chellebrate,

I have tops ( from Old Navy ) with similar cuts as the first two suggestions. I wear a strapless bra but I have also been able to get away with a racerback bra.

The following lets you create a racerback from any bra and its it adjastable by sliding it up and down to adjust where the straps fall so that it works with many shirt styles :

Khris, are you able to wear a regular strapped bra with those types of dresses and the top?

We are just nearing the end of summer so I can speak from experience about what I have been and still wearing. Dresses are great, thanks to YLF I've learned to accessorise as an alternative to layering. Also been wearing tops that are a bit more glammed up than normal (embellished or lovely soft fabric) and I considered that to be an alternative to layering as well. Colors have also been my focus, just trying to get more game to mix up different bright colors one of my work in progresses!

Sorry cant help with links as I dont think any Aussie links would be relevant for you

Great suggestions from, Khris! These walk shorts *are* fabulous:

http://youlookfab.com/store/20.....da-shorts/

Start building a wardrobe of dresses - nothing beats the heat quite like a frock.

I live in the desert too- and loose, cotton, sleeveless dresses are what I live in through the summer heat. My body is a similar shape, and I like dresses like these:

http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/.....=730479022

http://www.6pm.com/ezekiel-gal.....light-blue

Floaty cotton tops to pair with shorts/clamdiggers
I just got this one from Express:
http://www.express.com/catalog.....8;Mrsavf=*
I think their dreamweight tops are great for desert summerwear, but look for the styles that float away from the tummy area.

or nylon mesh tops like Sweet Pea (although I have a feeling these will be my spring/fall tops rather than summer)
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....rchresults
Check the Nordstrom Rack for deep discounts on these

Angie put up some Kut From Kloth bermuda's in the YLF store the other day, and I am watching a pair on ebay. Last year I wore clamdiggers, but I think that I am going to try bermuda's out this year.

The other things that I am thinking of for transitional weather before it gets really hot are white jeans, lightweight jackets (denim, boyfriend, moto), and cardigans.
Don't forget strappy sandals!

I am coming to the conclusion that I really don't have much to wear in my closet. And, I don't have a lot of money to spend. I live in the hot desert. It's going to be warming up in the next month. Therefore, my focus is going to be building a summer wardrobe.

Any suggestions for what I should be looking for to suit my apple shaped body? [short waisted, large bust, short legs with a preference for the modern classic and trendy fashionista looks]

Any specific styles/links for the following:
clamdiggers/walking shorts?
day dresses?
tops?

Anything else I'm not thinking of to start?
