I guess I'm going to have to see it in person, see how shiny and fitted it is. I haven't seen much that isn't sleeveless on-line. The twinset is a t-neck, wool, just too hot for summer, especially graveside.

Of course, my mother would say if you have to ask, you already know the answer will be no.

This has been interesting to me. My first impulse was to say sure, why not? Then I wondered if the top might be too warm for summer (not in air conditioning, perhaps). Then I wondered if it might be considered too fitted. But truly, that would depend on the ethos of the group. I can't imagine anyone I know feeling offended -- the dark colour and modest sleeves would make it sort of blend into the background. But that would be on me. Someone with a more voluptuous figure might stand out in the same top.

I would venture a guess that your black skirt and twin-set is perfectly acceptable through the summer, too, as most twin-sets aren't heavy. Additionally, the top you linked to has 3/4 length sleeves, which would certainly make it as warm (and as warm-looking) as a twinset with the sleeves scrunched. I am not terribly fond of the top, especially for a funeral, but I do think that what you say you currently have would work out fine.

I don't think it looks too fancy - I think it looks as if you cared enough to take pains with your appearance, to pay proper tribute to the deceased and the family. With a knee-length skirt or dark trousers, it will look tasteful and subdued.
I think the banded shirring looks more party-ish. Wouldn't be glaring, headline-creating, but I wouldn't choose it, if I had other options. Meaning, something not black but not as date-like, would look more funeral-worthy--black color itself does not a funeral make.

To me that top says "festive" more than "funeral".
I would go with something more subdued.

It's a little fancy for me. I would not be bothered by someone wearing it, but I myself go for plain.
I like it and I think it's appropriate (at least here it would be). It doesn't show the shoulders and the neckline doesn't look too low. The pleats make it dressier than a normal shirt which I think is a good thing. I'd give it a try! Would you tuck it into the skirt?
I have a black skirt, and a twin set that is 100% appropriate from Sept-April. Is this too fancy for a summer funeral? It will be in a church I do not attend, but that most of my neighbors do and the men will wear business suits or a cowboy version of suit, ladies in dresses or skirts. I probably have a couple months to get this sorted, but I have limited time to shop in the city between now and then.

http://www.anntaylor.com/ann/p...../300431?co
