The one thing that bugs me about them though is the canvas can be stiff and cutting on the top of my foot on the higher-heeled wedge styles. &nbsp;Of course the canvas needs to be stiffened to provide some sort of structure and support but I always seem to end up with the top of my foot rubbed raw. I cannot stand heavy shoes, no matter how comfortable the arch and fit is otherwise. My legs tire too easily if I have to clunk around in them.</p> <p>That said if you look hard enough you can find espadrille-like shoes that are lighter weight. I have a pair now, purchased I think it was 2 seasons ago at Macy's. They aren't true Espadrilles if you look close (I think the wedge is actually plastic), but the color is similar and it has texture so nobody can tell the difference. The placement of the straps keeps my foot securely in place and the lower heel makes them 8-hour walking shoes for me. They fit my high arched foot well, but were uncomfortable when walking.
