I end up purging dresses more than any other category each year due to changes in my body and what I’m comfortable in. My weight hasn’t even changed in 2 years, but there are other, more subtle, changes, you know? The gingham is a more recent acquisition and works better for my current body. I’ll just have to make sure I don’t want to wear it when my husband’s not available for zipping. I’m convinced to keep it for now to see how much of a deterrent the zipper is. </p> <p>The Georgia is gone, but it’s a great dress. Substantial fabric, not too low cut, and good length. I’ve purged some and am content to let the rest happen over time. I won’t need to buy anything in that category for a while. </p> <p>I’m less sure if I have enough dresses I can wear to work. The gingham, with a topper (and it’s too cold at work not to use a topper) can certainly fill that purpose. The other two couldn’t even if I wanted to keep them for casual wear. They are shorter than what I prefer. On the other hand, if I can’t out the gingham on myself, it’s no good for work. My husband usually leaves before I’m dressed. Then there’s going to the gym at lunch, etc. </p> <p>I just added the dresses i can wear to work that I have in finds to work, and I’m sure it seems like enough to most people. I get big laundry back ups in the summer, and I like lots of variety, so I wouldn’t mind 1-2 more, maybe one in a solid color. I know I also have some that aren’t in finds though. Dresses are my favorite category for summer, as you can see... lengths are usually longer on me than the models. </p> <p>The Boden dress below with the beach print fills a similar purpose to the gingham. It’s my favorite dress of all time and isn’t going anywhere. Otherwise, the bloated belly creates fit and cling issues. The seam of the waist of the third dress pretty much lies where my actual waist does, and I am so curvy right below my waist (hips as well as belly) that something with a longer torso wouldn’t look good or sit well. This is just by way of explanation of why I’ve gravitated to these shapes in the past. </p> <p>I think the proportions of the first one were more pleasing when the hem was lower. </p> <p>Rachylou, I have to have my husband zip me in and out of it. It was a problem when I bought the dress. I probably should have left it at the store! It sounds like you are not happy with the length and it also seems a bit low cut to me - I say that not out of some tsk-tsk modesty impulse but rather it just doesn’t seem to flow over your body in the way one wants for an easy summer dress.</p> <p>I like the print and color scheme of the second but the cut doesn’t wow me.</p> <p>The length of the third is really nice. It has that easy summer feel to my eye.
