Very cosmopolitan city, but fashion leans Italian: Gucci and Miu Miu vibes; fun colors x heritage prep.</p> <p>Brera is a great neighborhood for people watching and restaurants. The Pinacoteca di Brera is lovely -- as is the little cafe on the second floor court yard.&nbsp;Best vintage shopping along via Brera. Wonderfully high-end.&nbsp;Cavalli e Nastri,&nbsp;Urzì,&nbsp;Il Cirmolo, and lots more.</p> <p>Near Navagli, I head good things Tannico, Pasto, and good old Trattoria Milanese for food. We did some windows shopping at Alaina, Max Mara plus others. I remember openly people-watching for the fashion--staring is kind of rude, but Italians are more used to being on parade. Some of the more put together Italians live there, so lots of great style.</p> <p>Best thing I found was to sit at an outdoor cafe in the evening and have a campari spritz, or whatever drink you want. You can watch everything going on.</p> <p>There was also a cool ritzy mall with a giant walkway that connected to the outside. It's pretty exciting. I will for sure be posting some updates and street style reports as I go. </p> <p>Angie, yes! Urban + Mediterranean + June = HOT. Your suggestions are right in line with what I am thinking. The only athletic shoes I have to bring are my trail runners and they'll only be for the Alps portion of the trip, plus day hikes during the Czech portion (we have several national park trips planned). I might have to look like a dork and wear them on the plane since they're the bulkiest clothing item I'm packing;&nbsp;most of my other summer footwear packs very flat and small. For city days, I'm thinking one pair of closed-toe shoes plus one pair of sandals. Might also bring sport sandals just to be prepared for the likelihood of splash parks/water parks/river activities.&nbsp;I am also hoping to leave a little room in my bag to do some shoe-shopping in Prague, since it's one of the best places in the world to shop in person for barefoot/minimalist shoe brands. :)</p> <p>Clothes-wise, I will probably bring a linen midi skirt, a pair of lightweight cotton or linen pants, a couple of merino tank tops and a merino dress, one or two lightweight button-front shirts and one warmer layer -- cotton cardi or jacket? Definitely bringing a swimsuit as well (we will have pool access in Prague, and I really am gunning for some freshwater beach/river days too), and of course a sunhat! I'll probably do laundry 3x: once when we arrive in Prague, once when we leave Prague, and once sometime in between.&nbsp;</p> <p>Technical clothes will consist of nylon pants and shorts, a sun hoodie and probably one other synthetic or merino top, a new hiking dress (road testing this piece as we speak now that it's finally hot here!), plus rain/wind/insulating layers. I want to bring a few different options since what I wear for backpacking will depend on what the weather forecast is when we set out on the trail, and that won't be 'til late June. We've arranged to leave our extra luggage at the hotel where we'll stay immediately before and after our hike. I'd love to hear some ideas for (mostly window) shopping, and recommendations for dining, people-watching, and great places to walk/bike would be great as well. I'll be staying in Navigli. I'll have DH and 9yo DS with me, neither of whom is particularly interested in fashion, but I'm sure I'll be able to squeeze in a few solo strolls. Especially interested in secondhand/vintage and locally-made anything (leather goods -- bags/belts?). Suggestions of places to avoid (tourist traps etc) are also very welcome.&nbsp;</p> <p>PS -- the rest of this trip will be two weeks in Czechia and then a 170 km backpacking trip in the Alps, but we'll be flying in/out of Italy and I'm so excited to get a chance to explore! It's a somewhat last minute work trip, so no Last Supper viewing for us, but we'll find plenty to do to make up for it. I'm a little bit anxious that my packing list won't pass muster in a place with such great street style; I'm packing primarily for outdoor activities, but since it's only a few days I'm going to attempt a mix-and-match microcapsule.
