I bought this velvet wrap dress to wear over skinny jeans (my black and dark denim seem to work the best on me). I loved the dress, but would have passed on it because being a wrap when sitting down it shows off way more leg that I am comfortable with. However, over jeans as a tunic, it is perfect. My figure is a slim pear shape, so I prefer to have waist definition, as tunics that go straight down, make me look larger than I actually am. I am also planning on wearing it over jeans and a t-shirt in the kimono style (like my picture below). I hope you find your perfect tunic / dress to wear, as I really love this look.

I just looked back on Angie's original post from 4th August, and it doesn't look like any of her pictured dresses have waists. When I think of tunics in my own wardrobe, some of which are long enough to be worn without pants underneath, none of the more summery ones have waists. So I wonder if perhaps waists wouldn't look as good to get that look? But no expert.

Thanks, kkards!! So, there are two waisted dresses (and a super-dropped waist) in your assortment. Do you think crops work with a "waisted" dress?

A further question, in case anyone sees this: are the dresses for flouncy frocks (worn over crops) waistless (that is no natural waist or empire line)?
That's what I tend to see (although I'm not super-adept at the shapes of dresses.) They seem to be be shifts or trapeze shape or very drop-waisted, right? Are there shapes of dresses that look best over crops, I suppose, is another way to ask the question?

Hi Joy, thanks!! I'm not sure if it's the overall dress that overwhelms me or if it's the tops of dresses and tunics that do so. My shoulders slope, so I need distinct shoulder seams (vs. very unconstructed items.) I agree with you; I'd LOVE to see a round-up of flouncy frocks or actually any frocks that would work over crops. I'm not very adept at proportions; so Angie's eagle eye would really help. Thanks again!!

After Angie's blog post on flouncy frocks over crops, I was hoping to see a round-up of them. There are lots of flouncy tops out there that are not dresses. You may like to go with them if fabric easily overwhelms you.

I just ordered this dress from Nordstrom - haven't received it yet but I'll try to report back when I do! Since it's on the shorter side and tunic-ish I'm hoping it looks good over crops.

I need some "flouncy frocks" or longer tunics to wear over my black Halogen kick crops. I'm a slender I-shape with sloping shoulders and smaller chest. I like a more open necklace (more open than jewel.) I get easily overwhelmed with fabric. I look better in darker colors, as I'm pale with dark hair (high value contrast.) Any suggestions or is this too general?
