You will use it. I think the fabrication might actually be very practical, because if it should get wet, rayon dries very quickly.</p> <p>However, to be a stick-in-the-mud, I would say that since you are not moving until next year, I would pass on the purchase. A quick Google search for "orange trench coat" brought up a bunch of options that might be more so. So if it's one coat to do it all, probably not this one.</p> <p>That said, even my most gearish goretex jacket, supposedly super weather proof and worn on many expeditions, has these instructions: after washing, liberally spray with Scotch Guard. The coating beads up the water amazingly and doesn't seem to change the color on my cranberry jacket.</p> <p>The Scotch Guard trick would likely turn this into a coat that could be quite handy for those grey drizzle days that go on and on in spring and fall. My impression of PNW weather (mom and sis lived there)&nbsp;is that grey drizzle/light rain&nbsp;is much more prevalent than a downpour. I can't tell if is water resistant though rayon doesn't strike me as the usual fabric for that.<br /> I think the cor is fab cheery if that's your color. For cheery coats I like focusing on "my" colors rather than a trend-- great when they coincide. So if you're being analytical you might start there for which colors feel like " you" and then go to style and fabric.
