I do have quite a few pieces that are basically wearable year round, given that I work in A/C. And I could probably fit almost everything into my closet but I like to remove the pieces that don't get worn for months at a time, otherwise I just get tired of them. So when I pull out last year's things, they feel more fresh.

I'm not going to do any closet changes yet. Our weather can be crazy and it could easily get cold again in March. That's what happened last year- unseasonably warm in February with colder temps in March.

I am in transitional weather here, too. One day near 80 and then in the 50's. It kind of has me off kilter.
In the same vein, I'm trying to decided what to take home next month to my Tahoe closet to retire for the remainder of the year. That's as close as I'll get to switching out my closet for the seasons.

I'm laughing since I just ADDED charcoal and black cashmere to my in-rotation items!!

Am I inconsistent? Not really. As I said, I won't start thinking "spring" truly for another four weeks at least. I'm still in true winter here. (Or rather, I'll be thinking spring, but I won't be getting spring, so dressing for it would be crazy!)

Around mid March, I'll do what Joy has done -- put away the really heavy and dark woollens, and replace those with some lighter weight (and lighter colour) items. Those items will still be layer-able and I will still be wearing at least some wool until the end of April. But I'll aim for lighter weights and a lighter palette overall.

Suz, I just did most of my spring closet switch this past weekend, putting away the really wooly things, but not too far away yet. They may be back in action at the end of this week. No bare legs for at least a couple of months, so the plan is for the next switch to be about May 15th. It is wonderful to see more color when the closet is opened.
Susie, like you I have found a pattern in my seasonal interest in clothing. Between Thanksgiving and New Years, I love bling and red but am ready for a change in color in January. I'm trying Suz's wardrobe plan of switching things out about 6 times a year and really like it. I just took out most of my dark neutrals like dark grey, chocolate brown, and much black, something I would not have done before. The spring weights in those colors will be welcomed back in circulation in the fall. We will see if it works.

Wow. I'm trying to imagine doing the closet switch in February. As the snow falls out my window....

I won't do the full switch until May. Really can't wear what most people would consider spring-weight items until then. Or open shoes.

I love how YLF gives us insight into the effects of climate on our fashion choices!

You're right about Summer lasting FOREVER here, but I really want to wear sandals! I wore a pair today and my toes are just so happy. Although, I will say that since our Winters are usually short, I don't have that many cold weather clothes. So many more options in the warm weather closet.

Carter, I think our weather is fairly similar (I'm in Little Rock) though ours is probably a bit more erratic. I lived in Atlanta for a year for college and I remember lying out in the sun in February.

I know how long and hot summer can be so that is part of my hesitation over winter ending. That and I still want to wear BOOTS!

We're in the 60s and 70s this week too. I'm SO ready for the change though! I've worn my Winter clothes much more than usual this Winter. My closet, however, is not ready. Contemplating beginning to switch it over this weekend. At least I think I can trade out the true Winter items for some early Spring items.

I've noticed that my interest in current season clothing to the coming season changes very abruptly. After Christmas and through most of January, I am still very into my winter things. I usually tend to add some new pieces and really enjoy wearing them.

Then my focus changes to shopping for spring items but I'm not necessarily interested in wearing them yet, I am just DONE with buying for winter.

Now, suddenly, our temps have changed dramatically. Just over a week ago, it snowed (just 3 inches but that's actually a lot for us.) Now this week it is in the 60's and even 70's!

I know that many of you are ready to be finished with all of the snow and cold temps so I hate to complain. And it's not likely to stay this warm; we will probably see temps drop again. But I'm not ready to stop wearing my sweaters!!
