My room is a little more organised than yesterday afternoon when the stylist left but I think I am having to physically sort things around. I have to say I hired her as a present to myself thinking I just needed a little refresh since I thought my wardrobe was edited and I had a fair idea of the styles that suited. Anyhow this is what has happened so far:<br /> Decided to hire just before christmas since I was sick of buying buying and 'nothing to wear' - and thinking I had a relatively minor question about my change in hair colour and a tummy that has appeared<br /> Totally empited entire closet/storage and did some weeding and sorting, I added this to my reflections I have been taken note of in my little fashion notebook following Angie's exercises over the year<br /> After much thinking of this, I spent about 3 days prepared a 6 page document of my reflections, what I like what I dont what gets orpahed, what I need my wardrobe to do, the activities of my life etc etc PLUS a 20 page visual powerpoint of images of myself in some of my WIWs, photos of some of my clothes I thought would stay, looks I like, hair style, some glasses options. Mainly organised around my capsules I thought I needed. This made me realise there were some bare capsules as well<br /> She arrived with a small suitcase of accessories she thought would work to add the kind of style she was seeing me having; AND 2013 catalogues from the designers I said I likde/suited my figure. She had also been to two particular stores, one where I likde things (see my notes on the work capsule I was happy with) and another boutgiue I had not been to. She had found some really nice pieces in my size ON SALE that would add to my blank holes.<br /> We shopped my closet, she showed me what was working and what wasnt and used her accessories to show me how to take pieces that work to the next level and to make them look differetn. We took photos of these to START a look book since today I realise there are SO MANY things to get...<br /> We shopped the unknown store yesterday and I went back again today less overwhelmed<br /> The other stores/designers I liked contacted me today to tell me of new season pieces she had thought would work were in store!!!<br /> Stylist has dropped me some more contact details today of where to get some specialised underwear I need to wear some of my pieces (who knew!)<br /> I can see I could easily spend another day really thinking and trying on things in store but alas don't ahve that time.<br /> As you can see it has ended up not being just a short little session but nearly a week of concentrated effort.<br /> Proof will be in the pudding if I can make up a week's worth of outfits to wear next week when I am away :-)<br /> Thanks for listening - talking onYLF and thinking on your questions and comments is forming part of the process too. </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/stylist-session-report#post-819613 Wed, 16 Jan 2013 02:10:33 +0000 Amy 819613@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>That sounds like a lot of fun! She was just great - since I can't play with Angie from the other side of the world. I am sure I will have to spend a few days to go over everything but in a nutshell...<br /> Overall I am on track and it was really useful providing her with my style insights/images and she brought some appropriate accessories/brochures from stores she sussed out before we met.<br /> The BIG insight and I suspect the heart of why I "have nothing to wear" is the FIT of my clothes. I guess my body has changed somewhat over time and I have been holding on to same old styles of things. She went through all my stuff and showed me how and why some things worked and some didn't. She identified which pieces I need to double up on - same as Angie suggests! We then shopped at a store I had not been to before where she had some things on hold in my size to try. While I came home with a new black tshirt, blue tshirt etc - they sit JUST RIGHT.<br /> We well and truly used our time and she has identified some additional pieces that work with my wardrobe with the girls at a store I really like.<br /> I already feel like I am going to have HEAPS of things to wear for lots of different occassions once I sort through my better pieces I already have and mix them in with the new pieces.<br /> I will post some WIW's when I get sorted. The key theme is monochromatic pieces that fit, in blacks, blues, greys, white. Plain flattish shoes that I can wear. Then some sets of fantastic accessories and a few jackets in a number of colours including some new colours etc I have not had before.<br /> It was money worth spent in consideration already! </p>
