I've actually really enjoyed interacting with other women on YLF and found it because of this post. I thought these types of forums were developed to share tips and ideas and I was just trying to be helpful. My apologies!

Sorry you feel that way, Mo, but I didn't intend to "spam." Do you suggest using a different way to interact with women who would probably like to know where to find earrings that won't bother them? This post seemed to be a good place to interact with women that have similar problems when it comes to sensitive ears.

This seems to be a good example of old posts getting revived by spammers. It looks like 3 out of the 4 last responses are spam - not from active members.
As Queen Mum suggested in our OT thread problem, closing down posts like this would be great to unclutter the front page of posts.

Hi ladies - I suffer form sensitive ears too and for a long time nothing worked - "nickel free," Sterling Silver, etc. I finally got so frustrated that I began researching metals and elements and just recently started my own online earring boutique specifically for women with sensitive ears, called Merah. I'd love for you to check it out! http://www.shopmerah.com.

Sarah, I have the same problem so I completely stopped wearing earrings (even my diamond studs bothered me). But recently I found a brand called Silver Forest at my local Hallmark retailer. They do not irritate my ears at all. I have this pair...

http://www.porterhousecrafts.c.....E-9965.htm

...and another simpler gold and silver pair that work well with just about everything I wear, and coordinate with my two-toned watch.

Tiffany, the neosporin seemd to work better than the nail polish for me. Both worked, but the neosporin was actually soothing.

Thank you Sarah, and everyone for sharing your experiences. I will try the nickel free earrings (I saw a lot of funky earrings at Target and can't wait to get some). If it doesn't work, I'll definitely try the nail polish and Neosporin idea!
Thank you all.
I love this forum.

My younger sister also has a nickel allergy. It is quite severe... even the rivets in a standard pair of jeans will cause a rash within about 10 minutes on her. The nailpolish doesn't hold up well for things like that on the clothing with repeated rubbing etc.

She only wears Titanium jewelry now. A lot of the time she has to special order it through a tattoo/piercing shop, but she also does Google searches for online Titanium jewelry retailers with quite a bit of luck. Her boyfriend was even able to find her a pure Titanium promise ring...

Some sites I just found:
http://www.amazon.com (search for "titanium", in left menu select "jewelry" then "earrings")
http://www.titaniumera.com (rings incase anyone wants them)

There is hope

Just a little update on the earrings. Sorry it took me so long, but I finally tried the clear nail polish and it works great. My ears didn’t give me any trouble. The Neosporin also works wonders. Thank you all for the suggestions!

Lilgoldfish, I'm sorry. I haven't tried the clear nail polish yet. *ducks* I'm not sure why I haven't gotten around to it. I'll blame being a busy student. My sister said she had a roommate with sensitive ears that did it though and it worked for her. I also want to try Julia's suggestion of dipping them in Neosporin. I always take my earrings out at night anyway, since I lost one in bed once and don't want to do that again. Wow, I'm glad to know what I'm allergic to Lizky! I'll have to start looking for some nickel-free jewelry.

Sarah, do you mind sharing the result of experiment on the clear nail polish on earrings with cheaper materials?
I have similar problem as you. When I got my ears pierced, they took a whole year to recover, and I could not wear anything other than sterling silver or 14K gold... I never dare to try these cheaper earrings because the experience of infected pierced ears were too vivid.
Thanks!

I am one of those people who have very sensitive skin. When I was a little kid my wrists would break out in a rash from wearing cheep metal bracelets for too long. I don’t seem to have that problem much anymore, but then I don’t wear bracelets much anymore. I do, however, have a problem with cheep earrings. When I wear earrings made of anything other than sterling silver of 14K gold my ears let me know about it. They get red and itchy, sometimes after several hours and sometimes right away, to the point where I have to take out the earrings. Also, when I have worn cheep earrings for a while my ear holes often fill with a nasty black pussy something; I’m not sure what it is, but it’s not fun to clean out. So the point of all of this is that I’m wondering if anyone here knows of a place where I can find fun and stylish earrings in a variety of styles in either 14K gold of sterling silver. I prefer silver, but I’m kind of tired of my gold, silver, and diamond posts. I used to buy earrings at Clair’s and Icing, but most of their fun styles are made of cheep metals. They don’t have much variety in silver or gold, and even their “sensitive solution” earrings bother my ears. Thanks in advance.
