They are waterproof, breathable, are stretchy, and come if fun patterns. My mother has similar foot/calf issues (and high arches) and wears a pair for playground duty and commuting in the winter. You can find them at Cabelas or on Zappos. But you should try them anyway. You never know. They are wonderful boots and totally worth the price.</p> <p>I have some hideous shoveling boots that never leave my driveway, but that aside, I can't really have ugly commuting shoes. I need winter boots. I want my feet to stay warm and dry, in several inches of snow, while looking relatively stylish. I need something wiht serious arch support, and I have wide feet and wide calves. Ideally I'd be able to wear them with skirts as well as pants. Anyone else on a boot hunt? </p>
