Angie - I have two pair of Sudini boots and they are suppose to be made in Italy. Do you mean Sorel boots? I have a pair of those also and they are very well made, warm, and waterproof. They have a Polar Bear on them.

They absolutely exist and the Canadian companies do this best - of course they do!

Try brands like Aquatalia, La Canadienne and Sudini. Try Ugg styles too.

I haven't tried those boots persay, but keens are generally cut wide. I have normal width feet and often have problems with keens being too wide. Not sure why they would break tradition and make narrow calf boots!

The bogs and Keens look good, and a lot more in my price range. I'm worried about calf width in the Keens, anyone with a wider calf try those? Thanks for all the help ladies, this really helps.

Bogs are more fun that fashionable-- but if you are just gonna wear them for running errands and through the snow and not all day as a pair of fashion boots you will probably like them. They are waterproof, breathable, are stretchy, and come if fun patterns. My mother has similar foot/calf issues (and high arches) and wears a pair for playground duty and commuting in the winter. You can find them at Cabelas or on Zappos. They definitely aren't for wearing all day as "fashion" boots though-- although most winter snow boots will be too hot to wear inside anyway.

How a bout a pair of Hunters? Other than that, the La Canadienne's are the only ones I know of that might fit your needs. I think Miz Mooz would be good for the width, but they aren't waterproof....maybe just wear wool socks? LOL...(-: good luck, and let us know what you find...

A word of caution: La Canadienne tends to be narrow in the calf area. But you should try them anyway. You never know. They are wonderful boots and totally worth the price.

I have some hideous shoveling boots that never leave my driveway, but that aside, I can't really have ugly commuting shoes. It's just not practical to lug around 2 pairs of boots to work every day.

I live in Wisconsin and I have special snow boots for walking through snow and sledding: the Keen Winthrop. http://www.zappos.com/keen-winthrop-boot-wp-black

Personally, I don't want to subject my stylish and expensive boots to lots of snow, so I wouldn't recommend trying to combine the two. Does that make sense?

wow those are nice. Thats a bit more than I'm budgeted for, but I think I can wait and add some xmas money to the pot. I really want to get quality boots that will last forever, so I'm willing to suck it up and wait if it means I get something really really good.

I'm not in a climate where this is an issue for me, but I know some of the gals here like La Canadienne boots. I think they are waterproof. also pricey.... not sure what your price range is.

I feel like I'm that woman in the grocery store saying "I want all my groceries in one bag - and I want that bag not to be heavy!". I need winter boots. I want my feet to stay warm and dry, in several inches of snow, while looking relatively stylish. I need something wiht serious arch support, and I have wide feet and wide calves. Ideally I'd be able to wear them with skirts as well as pants. Anyone else on a boot hunt?
