Yes, I agree with Angie about the top! Pick tops in bright pinks, turquoise, cobalt blue....you're gonna look fabulous in no time!

#2 and #5 scarves are wonderful! Tie them like #5 and another look to try is long and knotted once without wrapping around your neck - which I always feel looks like I'm being choked! It looks great on you, but just something to think about.

Thank you, Angie. One of my main purposes here is to learn what flatters me and what doesn't. And for that, I need people to be upfront.

Pass on the top. That is not not a good colour on you no matter how you're trying to save it with a scarf.

You do have a nice scarf collection!

Julie, desperation is the mother of invention, LOL! I've been wearing and accumulating scarves for years, so I've had lots of chances to learn.

Thanks for all the input, ladies. This is how I finally went. (Excuse the tacky arms-length self-portrait.) The sweater proved to be unnecessary, and I really would have been too hot with the white scarf, so it all worked out for the best.

Colour-wise, I think #5 would be the way to go. It would make the sweater work together with the outfit better.

But there's no way I would be wearing it all evening inside; it's not that cool. So I'll probably wear #2, and bring #5 in my purse in case I spill on myself and need coverage. ;o) Hey, one reason I love scarves is because they are more functional than jewelry. Warmth, camouflage, head covering, they are there for you in all kinds of circumstances and can be repurposed on the fly. Not that I dislike jewelry; it's just less versatile.

I like #5 with #2 as plan B.

Also, I will echo Harmonica's point about pink or blue - with your gorgeous white hair, I think you will be able to rock the brights up close to your face. All in good time, though - no need to add shopping to today's list of things to do!

I think like 5 the best, since I think your bottoms are khakis, right? would just wrap it around one more time and leave the ends looking like this. See pic.

It's ok if some portion covers the lace detail. YLF!

Honestly, all of these colours look a little richer in real life, including the top.

I also found a little silk ombree scarf that echoes the gold and the khaki, along with rust and a muted black (if that makes sense) that could be just wrapped around my neck and tucked into the top. I'm running out of time for taking photos, cropping and posting though. I do have to get things done around here... ;o)

Harmonica, I do love those colours, but I don't have scarves in those shades, and particularly not in a pattern that would blend with the gold top.

Of these, I like 1 and 2 the best in terms of going well with the top color without being startling. 3 is too harsh on you and the top, and 4 just seems off in color (though I love the color!). I'm never a big fan of white, so have no judgment there.

The general consensus on my outfit was that it was lacking in colour.

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....th-friends

So I hit my scarf drawer. Here are five scarves, tied various ways. Which colour do you find works best, and which way of tying? I can obviously retie the winning scarf to match the best shape. Thoughts?

ETA: *sigh* And I forgot to add the photos...
