I loved Angie's pairing of light blue denim with her cobalt blouse and citron jacket (when she was taking about seldom worn pieces becoming new favourites). I also like to wear light blue denim with blush pink and burgundy.

I think most of my denim is in the light to medium category. Most of my tops are also. I pair it with heather gray, lavender, white/winter white, light teal, mint green, fuschia, pale pink, and darker shades of blue.

Having said that, I purchase denim based on the colors that look good on me, and also what mixes well in my wardrobe. I have Light Summer coloring, so this type of denim is a natural draw. What drew you to the light wash denim? Do you have light to medium coloring? Do you have a light color palette? Is there an inspiration photo? You may want to look on Pinterest to see some examples of people wearing this type of denim to see what you like best.

For me it depends on the wash/ tone of the blues. Some I will only wear with other lights (white, cream) or with high contrast ink or black (That's for the really light washes).

For a medium light wash, almost anything goes, but that might be because my own contrast levels are low to medium. Anyway, I like medium wash denim with ink or navy, with black, with many patterns, with burgundies or berries, with white, taupe, winter white, blush...you name it!

Thanks for all of these great suggestions! Yes, abc I think it is a contrast issue. I love patterns and color, and am a fairly bold dresser, but somehow have a hard time with a darker color on the top than the bottom. When I wear dark denim, I stick toward blouses with a darker base. I've just got to branch out and adjust my eye! And, I love camel pairings too.

I feel light denim with light tops is a very summery look. In general I prefer light denim for S/S but when I do bring it out for F/W it's usually with darker, deeper, and/or more saturated colors. Charcoal, evergreen or olive, burgundy or crimson. Camel or beige can look nice too -- especially with coordinated shoes that's a way of making light jeans feel a little more pulled-together.

I like mine with black, or with darker blues and greens. Also all sorts of plaids. It's easy for me because I like high contrast outfits and I own a lot of dark/saturated things.

On the other hand it's nice with white too!

I love light denim but because my figure is bottom heavy, I almost always lean toward wearing white and lighter colors on top with light denim jeans.I love the look of black with it, but it doesn't always love me back.

What do you wear with the dark denim? Could it be a Contrast level issue? For example I like high contrast with my outfits so with dark denim I prefer tops that are light in color. So if you're like me you can try darker tops with your mid wash and light jeans. Good luck.

I think of denim as the ultimate neutral, so I say anything goes.....but that's me...maybe it's not the top, but the shoes.....I know sometimes with a light bottom I feel "top heavy" when I wear a dark top,so I try to balance that by matching my footwear to my top.

I'm wearing cobalt with light denim at the moment...

I also really like the contrast of black with lighter denim. And red... Angie has an ensemble showing red, white and light blue you should search for.
(I'd link but am on my phone).

This is such an easy question but I continue to find myself struggling with the best ways to style light to medium faded blue denim. I don't have this issue with dark denim but I often find myself trying on every top in my closet when it comes to lighter denim (particularly pale blue). Any favorites color pairings, especially for fall and winter?
