Thanks for all the solutions!
I do think a striped top might work, as well as a coral one. I will try out both, and put up pictures. A light denim blouse might work well here, since it is also somewhat of a neutral!!

RunnerRae: I am a little scared of tucking in,as I am somewhat conscious of my muffin top. But i like the idea of the third picture, with a striped top and a belt.

Lyregullybird: The skirt is actually navy blue grading into wheat. But your theory in essence is correct, I think denim/chambray might work for this, though not sure about khaki.

Zapotee: I have black hair, and olive skin. I live in the tropics, so its always somewhat warm, and summer-like The skirt is one of those fabrics which always remains wrinkled But I am loving the idea of the turtleneck & knotted shirt.

What color is your hair and are you wearing this in warmer or colder weather? I would go with a fitted off white bretton top with navy blue stripes and red flats in warmer months and would layer a cropped light denim jacket, tights and booties to bookend your hair color in winter. The skirt needs ironing too:) You could do a navy blue turtleneck, a chambray blouse over a cami and knot the blouse's tails, a boatneck tee... the important thing is to have a fitted top.

I would try either the blue of the top half of the skirt, or experiment with a more contrasting colour like red, (shocking) pink or purple.

As usual, I was going to suggest contrast rather than neutral or matchy - something in the orange/coral family. Even something like Angie is wearing in today's post. However, I think Lyre is making a very valid point. If you have something in the red/orange colour family, whether pure/bright or mixed/muted, maybe give it a try to humour me :)
Hmmmm maybe mustard could work? I'm seeing blue rather than green here.

Hi Fuschia_pink, that is a really nice summer casual skirt, and I love the colours.
The problem with the tops you have mentioned so far is that, although black, white and grey are neutral colours, black and white are high contrast, bright and clear, (and the grey is probably a clear as well). However, the main colours of your skirt (the green and ochre) are soft, muted, and mostly low contrast. If you put strong clear colours next to this skirt, the ochre and green will appear dull and muddy. It's usually easier to pick muted (mixed) colours i.e. similar in strength to the ochre and green - not too dark or too pale. Many shades of blue denim and khaki will look particularly good, I think. (Very pale denim could be trickier. But you could wear a viscose scarf that picks up the green or ochre to "balance out" a pale-ish top.)

Here's some examples...I think tucked in would offset the flowy-ness. I think white or cream would work well.

Cream tank top? Beige? I don't know much about color pairing, which is why I always -or almost always- stick to neutral bottoms.

PS: Maybe a light denim blouse tucked in?

White slim fit tank top tucked in maybe? Or a white sleeveless silk (or silk like) blouse with button front, tucked in too. I'll try to find some pics of what I mean.

I got this skirt in summer, and it has been a continual styling mystery to me. Its ombre, knee-length, and made of a light fabric with a inner lining. What do I wear it with?
I have tried white, black, 80% grey tshirt. Nothing seems to work.
(I hope the picture is ok)
