Interesting post... I've had my eye on a gilet like the R&B one...

So, would you wear the R&B one with a shirt underneath?

I also wondered what coat to wear for the cooler months.

I can see it would really elongate a look to wear with dark trousers but what to wear if you want to cover your arms?

I agree with UmmLila. Styling a draped one will be totally different from styling the tailored version. For me, the tailored is a piece of cake -- you throw it on just like a jacket over whatever -- skinnies or straights, crops, flares, A-line, pencil or tube skirts, culottes, sheath dress, shift, shirtdress. It works with a sleeved on sleeveless under layer. You can go low contrast or higher contrast, frilly or soft or crisp for the under layer. Shirts, blouses, pullovers, tees, silk tees -- even a moto jacket underneath. (I tried it; it worked.) You can dress it up with a luxe dress beneath, or dress it down with distressed denim and boots. It's a classic.

Drape is a mystery to me; I can't seem to wear it, let alone style it. (Not that I don't like it; I like it a lot on others. It just looks silly on me.) But I would assume you'd keep the under layers relatively simple and low key to highlight the drape feature.

Madewell also has this sleeveless trench.

For these lighter ones, I would just use it an architectural finishing piece/topper. The blush would go well with white, cream, red, or navy.

I think the Limited one will be more difficult because of the draping. You might check out the COS website because their style is all about large and draped.

In addition to the Angie-famous R&B gilet, I'm seeing several options pop up at other retailers... mostly a softer fabrication and drape though.

I am tempted by the pale pink affordable version from The Limited (which comes in petites!), but how would one style it?
