You can get them in wool which would be even better, or a long skirt over long John's and boots.

For cold weather I like a sweater dress with boots. I have them in several neutral colors from black to white. For added warmth I wear full slip.

By a long slip I meant one with a top attached to bottom so it's one rice to pull on. I like polyester because it is warm.

Great idea kkards! But, my thing with dresses is that it's sooo comfy and relaxing for my belly and I find it hard to find pants that are as comfy in the waist as it is just wearing a dress but thanks for the idea!

Nice dresses!
I live in the same part of the world as you, wear dresses/skirts several times a week even in winter, and recommend THIN WOOL tights with feet. They are comfortable, keep your feet DRY as well as warm, and look great.

Love both dresses. I'm not a fan of tights with feet either, although I could wear them in the past. There are so many varieties of socks with great colors and patterns available now. I'm sure you can find something great with these dresses.

Agree that you should find some fun socks and make them a feature of the outfit in case you take your shoes off. Not sure what your barefoot shoes/boots look like so add pictures of yours if you get a chance.

That's also a great idea Eva, thank you! The same company that has the dresses also have some super cute coloured wollen socks, they might be an option for me.

I would try the tights with wool socks that peek out of your boots/shoes, like in this picture.

Oh thanks so much for your input! Suz, it's nice to be back! Great idea with wearing socks with print as a kind of statement, I'll have a think what I would feel comfortable with! I'm generally drawn towards more earthy tones so I think "fun" pop of colors would feel off to me - but I can love that on others! And I'm sure I could find some in my colour palette.

As for shoes I wear "barefoot shoes", wide and flat (not the ones with separate toes) so I'm a bit limited there. But I have a pair of barefoot Chelsea boots so they should work with the dresses, as you suggested Suz! And I LOVE dresses with lace up boots, so I'll keep a look out for that style..!

I have the exact same complaint about tights. They always ended up pinching my toes and not feeling warm enough. So I switched to footless tights or leggings with socks and was very comfortable in the winter. I always wore ankle or higher boots with them, because I walked to work. Find yourself some adorable AND comfortable socks!

Hi, Karin -- nice to see you again!

I like the dresses, too! Both are terrific. Easy and on the casual side.

I think they could work with the tights you suggest and regular socks (maybe even fun patterned socks) and boots -- either a combat boot or a bootie with a tall shaft. I also think you could wear with knee high boots and that would look great also.

I don't think the hose will show all that much and if they do, so be it -- make it a feature, not a bug!

The one with the lower neckliine might need a scarf to close the neckline in cooler weather. (Of course I say that as someone with short hair.)

Examples of what I might wear for footwear with these. I realize in winter you might be changing out of snowboots to wear this type of footwear, depending on weather.

I know this post is seasonally off but I hope to get some input still :)

I found some dresses I really like - see pics - that I want to make work for fall and winter. I live in Sweden and would wear the dress when it's 0 degrees Celsius or below.

Tights with different thickness is the obvious solution, but, I'm not a huge fan of tights with feet (feet gets sweaty and cold). So I'm thinking sheer leggings (third pic), so leggings in the same fabric as tights. But, I get stuck on how to do with socks..! I feel like it would look weird having socks with the sheer leggings? Even if I wear shoes at work and it won't show there, I would like to feel like I CAN be without shoes and it still looking ok!

Do you follow my train of thoughts? Any input of how to style dresses for cold weather without tights with feet?
